Bimini Basin is a neighborhood in Cape Coral defined by its network of winding canals and waterfront properties. Most days are spent on the water, and boat owners enjoy easy access to the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico nearby. “It’s a boater dream with deep, wide canals and direct access to the gulf,” says Billee Silva, a local realtor with Jones and CO realty with extensive knowledge of the Fort Myers – Cape Coral Area. “If you’re a sailboat owner, it’s perfect because you don’t have to deal with bridges or locks.”
Bimini Basin sits in South Cape and is just minutes from the action of downtown.

Waterfront houses with private boat docks
Waterfront property is the main draw, and numerous Florida-ranch-style homes with stucco exteriors line the winding canals. Spanish-revival houses with modern flair are another popular style, and nearly every waterfront option features a private dock and screened-in swimming pool. Prices range between $600,000 and $900,000, with newer, larger estates topping $1 million. “As far as property with direct gulf access, you can’t beat it,” Silva says. “This neighborhood is the biggest bang for your buck.” There are plenty of ranch-style single-family homes on dry lots, and these sell from $280,000 to $520,000. Multifamily condos are available on the waterfront, and two-bedroom units are priced between $200,000 and $425,000. There is no neighborhood HOA, though some condo complexes require monthly dues.

Water-based recreation in the basin
This area is an actual basin that feeds into the Caloosahatchee River. The body of water, located in the middle of the neighborhood, is a popular spot for sailboats and manatee sightings. Four Freedoms Park is nearby and has a sandy beach that looks onto the basin’s calm blue waters. The park also features picnic tables and a fenced-in playground for families and young children. The Gulf of Mexico is just a short boat ride away and is a fishing destination known for its abundance of snook, redfish and tarpon. Others launch a kayak or canoe to explore The Great Calusa Blueway, a nearly 200-mile aquatic trail that winds through inland tributaries and coastal waters. For recreation on dry land, The Pelican Baseball Complex is 3.5 miles away and hosts the Cape Coral Cal Ripken Baseball league.

There is also a proposed Lee Health medical facility, which will provide closer medical care than Cape Coral Hospital, 7 miles away. “The project will turn this area into a prime destination for locals and tourists,” Silva says, “It’s really exciting.”
