Life on the lakes at Lochmere
The name Lochmere is derived from two Scottish words for "lake," which this well-established Cary community has three of. It’s known for its wealth of amenities, optimal location and lovely scenery. "Lochmere has always been a premier neighborhood in Cary," says Kyle Williams, the broker-in-charge and owner of Flex Realty. "It's highly competitive no matter the market. The location wins over most people." This large neighborhood, established in the late 1980s and 1990s, features two dozen subdivisions with gently curving roads, many cul-de-sacs and abundant mature trees. “They have extensive trails throughout,” says Scott Korbin, broker-in-charge of the Scott Korbin Team affiliated with Compass. “Around the lakes and through the community, which really makes the community much more walkable.”
There are 3 lakes in Lochmere, fishing is allowed in all of them.

Variety of sophisticated home styles
Condos and townhouses, such as in the Glen Echo section, will start in the mid-$300,000 range. In the Williamsburg Commons subdivision, ranch-styles and Cape Cods take inspiration from Virginia’s Colonial Williamsburg. Prices here range from $530,000 to $750,000. At the opposite end of the price range, a five- to six-bedroom estate with lake views will start at $1.2 million and go as high as $1.8 million. These homes tend to be a mix of Traditional and Transitional architecture, offering both a classic brick exterior, large windows and modern features like recreation rooms and even a personal boat dock.

Lochmere Golf Club and Ritter Park
The semi-private Lochmere Golf Club is open to those living in or out of the neighborhood. "The biggest reason people come is the golf course,” Williams says. “Whether you're a golfer or you like the proximity, it's a great spot." In addition to the 18-hole golf course, Lochmere's private amenities feature tennis and pickleball courts, six playgrounds, a clubhouse and scenic neighborhood lakes. While there is no swimming in any of the lakes, there are multiple pools in the community. Residents can enjoy dockside fishing and boating on the private Lake Lochmere or strolling the mile-long paved trail. Just outside of the neighborhood are Jack Smith Park, Harold D. Ritter Park and Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve, which offers shaded trails to hike in the summer.
