Golf course community in Catalina Foothills

La Paloma is among the many developments in the Tucson metro’s affluent Catalina Foothills area. This community offers diverse housing options and typically draws buyers desiring privacy and easy access to leisure. La Paloma also shares its name with a golf course situated in the heart of the community. When not at work, many here find themselves on the lush fairway, playing amid the backdrop of the Catalina Mountains. Additionally, the community gets credit for its proximity to natural and commercial destinations. “La Paloma is beautifully centered around Skyline Drive. If you want to go down Swan Road, you can easily shoot down Swan Road and be in Central Tucson, where the mall and all the shopping are down there,” says Tony Ray Baker, a Realtor with Re/Max Professionals. “This is kind of the center area of the north, so it’s very nicely located.”

Condos and homes with Tucson’s common Spanish influence

The guard-gated development consists of several smaller communities bearing the La Paloma name. While different types of homes exist here, they all exude the Southwest and Spanish designs seen across the Tucson area. Common features include red-tiled roofs, stucco exteriors and gravel yards with desert shrubs. “You can buy anything from condos for $350,000, all the way up to a $3 million home. It just depends on where you are in the community,” says Christina Esala, a Realtor with Tierra Antigua Realty. Depending on their scale and features, single-family homes typically run between $600,000 and $1 million.

Rounds of scenic golf at the La Paloma Country Club

La Paloma Country Club is the neighborhood’s recreational anchor. With features like Bermuda greens, the Jack Nicklaus-designed grounds offer 27 holes across three courses. The country club’s other amenities include tennis and pickleball courts, pools and an athletic club with weight and fitness rooms. Like much of the Catalina Foothills area, the community sits within convenient reach of various hiking opportunities. The Finger Rock Trailhead offers one of the nearest entrances into the mountains. The rugged path crosses a canyon featuring diverse desert flora and small caves. Along the way, hikers might spot deer and even rattlesnakes in the distance.
