The aptly named Heritage Greens neighborhood shares space with the rolling hills at South Suburban Golf Course, where misty Rocky Mountain peaks come into view each morning. Residents are a brisk walk away from the sight, and they are guaranteed to be out and about during the warmer months – if not completing an 18-hole or enjoying the South Suburban Bar & Grill, then taking their kids to Gators swim team meets at the community pool or walking the dogs on trails bordering the course.

“Heritage Greens homes range from about $950,000 to $2.8 million. I would say $1.3 million is the median price point,” Anne Dresser-Kocur, the #1 individual real estate agent in the Denver Metro Area, shares. Anne knows Centennial neighborhoods like the back of her hand and is an avid enjoyer of Denver’s many outdoor recreation opportunities. “E. Links Parkway has a couple of different segments – the first homes were built between 1980 and '85, the second phase was ‘85 to 1990, and so on. The newer, more expensive homes have golf course and mountain views, they have three car garages versus two, and more yard space and square footage.” Large bay windows or partial sunroofs add contemporary notes to these classic, two-story brick homes. Heritage Greens is looped into the Littleton Public School District, Niche’s pick for the fifth-best school district in Colorado. Kids start out at Sandburg Elementary School, which earns an 8/10 from GreatSchools. Nearby Newton Middle School also earns an 8/10, and students also have their pick from top charter schools for kindergarten through eighth grade – Littleton Academy and Littleton Prep Charter School both earn an 8/10. Older students finish strong at Arapahoe High School, coming in at a 7/10 with a 9/10 score for college readiness. The school is closely bonded to its namesake, the Arapaho Nation of Wind River, Wyoming; students welcome members of the tribe to the school each year on “Arapahoe Day,” and their gymnasium is christened after late tribal elder Anthony Sitting Eagle.

Heritage Green Plaza is a much-loved commercial strip within walking distance of the community. Residents of all ages trade golf greens for blacklight beams, lively artwork and a resident DJ at Monster Mini Golf Denver. Los Dos Potrillos Mexican Restaurant, a local dinner night favorite, is just a few doors down. Locals also travel a short 3 and a half miles to shop under the vaulted ceilings at Park Meadows Mall, the largest mall in Colorado. Costco, Walmart and other supercenters line U.S. Highway 470, or they head 3 miles west to The Streets at SouthGlenn to stock up at Whole Foods or spend an entire afternoon shopping and grabbing a bite with friends. The 5 and a half mile drive to the Denver Tech Center and its neighboring Light Rail stop, the Belleview Station alongside Interstate 25, makes Heritage Greens a central location for commuters.

Strong Colorado winters are inevitable, but the sports focus in Heritage Greens runs year-round. The South Suburban Sports Complex offers indoor recreation opportunities of all kinds. Neighbors strap on their skates for ice hockey or free skate and take a variety of athletic classes at indoor turfs. They don’t need to go beyond their own neighborhood streets for tennis or swimming, though – state-of-the-art equipment is available, as well as plenty of neighborly competition.

“People here can go to all the big sporting events for football, baseball, basketball and hockey: the Broncos, the Colorado Rockies, the Denver Nuggets, and the Colorado Avalanche are all in downtown Denver,” Dresser-Kocur says. “The swim team is a huge deal here too. Missy Franklin, the Olympic swimmer, was on the Heritage Green Gators – my son swam with her!”
