Historic architecture, natural beauty
Bordered by some of Charleston’s greatest attractions and featuring an abundance of green space, Mazyck-Wraggborough (often shortened to just Wraggborough) is an exciting area full of character. “It’s becoming a really popular area as of late,” says Ariel Trouche, Realtor with Carolina ONE Real Estate and longtime resident of Charleston. “And it’s easy to see why—the whole area feels like its own little section of Charleston and the parks make it so much roomier than nearby neighborhoods.” Full of vintage charm and offering residents a slice of history, the area’s elegant homes are just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of King Street. With the area being a hub of local art and culture as well, Mazyck-Wraggborough is an appealing option for those looking to settle in Charleston.

Classic style throughout
Homes in the area are known for their vintage aesthetic, with the regional Charleston single house making its presence known throughout the neighborhood—along with a number of revitalized examples of other historic styles. Some of Charleston’s most grand architecture is found in Wraggborough, with Colonial, Victorian, and Greek Revival estates all on display. Homebuyers looking for a single-family home will find mostly the aforementioned Charleston single houses, cottages, and the occasional traditional style home. Townhouses and condominiums are also in the neighborhood, with these being the primary examples of new construction available. Prices in the neighborhood generally range from $450,000 to $3.5 million—with condos and townhouses occupying the lower end of the range, and single-family homes usually starting around $1 million. In comparison to some nearby neighborhoods, the market is considered a bit more buyer friendly. “You can get more house for less, especially with larger builds, in Wraggborough than you would south of Broad Street,” says Trouche.

Both Wragg Mall and Wragg Square offer peaceful green spaces, with Wragg Square featuring a small garden right next to Second Presbyterian Church. “The parks, museums, and overall scenery are probably the things that really bring the neighborhood to life,” says Trouche. Tiedemann Park offers residents the opportunity to shoot some hoops on its basketball court. Sitting along Charleston’s Museum Mile, residents also have access to the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry, the Galliard Auditorium, and the Charleston Museum—the latter of which was founded in 1773 and is also known as “America’s First Museum.”
