Curving roads and sprawling plots
With a rich rural environment of steep highlands and low streambeds, this South Charlotte neighborhood lives up to its name. Mountainbrook's curving landscapes lead to stately homes that are always close to the branches of McMullen Creek, which runs throughout the neighborhood. The architecture here was designed harmoniously with the neighborhood's meandering streets and wooded hillsides. Nearby shopping centers, excellent schooling options, and pockets of green space add to the peaceful suburban lifestyle of Mountainbrook. Many homebuyers are interested in this exclusive community as it is a secluded retreat from the bustling neighborhoods of South Charlotte.

French and Colonial Revivals
Mountainbrook's low-lying midcentury ranch-style homes and new traditional farmhouses fit neatly into the area's sloping terrain. Many houses sit at an angle on large, wooded lots that sweep out onto azalea-lined paths and trickling streams. French Revival mansions and symmetrical Colonial Revivals add to the regal nature of the neighborhood. In general, houses fall between $700,000 and $2 million in price, with the median at $1 million. "There is no inventory here. Things are selling super-fast, and land is very tight," says Nancy Lawler, vice president of marketing at The Redbud Group and a Charlotte native. Given their higher price point than in surrounding neighborhoods, houses sell after being on the market for above the national average but are still considered limited and coveted.

Minutes away from Charlotte’s largest shopping destination
The neighborhood is highly residential, with very few stores or restaurants. However, "One of Mountainbrook's bestselling features is the proximity to the nearby mall. It's got every premier shop in the United States," notes Lawler. Mountainbrook is a stone's throw down Sharon View Road from Charlotte's largest shopping destination, SouthPark Mall. The shopping center's directory is evolving quickly, including everything from Nordstrom to Apple to an assortment of luxury favorites. SouthPark also serves as a one-stop shop for gas, groceries and other errands at the same intersection. Kids and adults love Golden Cow Creamery for their decadent, homemade ice cream selection. Residents head to BAKU, a swanky modern Japanese cuisine spot, for a fun evening out. The restaurant is best known for its skewered meats, sushi and sashimi served from an open-concept kitchen.

A short commute to Uptown
Commuters can reach Uptown Charlotte in 8 to 12 miles, depending on the route. Mountainbrook is conveniently surrounded by two interstates, though many residents will bypass highway traffic and travel along the more scenic Carmel and Providence roads.
