Park Road residents are close to their neighbors and Ballantyne, too

Park Road the neighborhood is much more than just the major thoroughfare that bears its name. Residents of this South Charlotte suburb have easy access to the bustling highway of Interstate 485, as well as a hospital and numerous shopping centers. For Chris Cunningham, a Realtor with Compass who has nearly 20 years of experience selling homes across Charlotte’s south side, a big part of Park Road’s appeal is its proximity to one of Charlotte’s most popular and fastest growing mixed-used communities: Ballantyne. “The Park Road area and Pineville are co-mingled with Ballantyne,” Cunningham says, “which is going to become one of the most attractive areas in the whole Charlotte region. Some companies are even putting offices down in Ballantyne just for their workers to be able to hang out there after work.” But residents don’t even need to venture to Ballantyne to get to know their neighbors; they can be found chatting each other up on the streets every day. “A lot of younger people hang out together if they’re in tighter areas like townhouses. With the weather being nice, residents walk around and talk with their children in strollers and have glasses of wine together later,” Cunningham says.

Different living options at prices below Ballantyne’s norm

Quiet, residential streets are lined with streetlamps and evergreens, which tower over the neighborhood’s rolling hillsides. Sidewalks are uncommon, though bike lanes can be found along centrally located Park Road. Driveways are spacious enough to fit multiple cars, while visitors will find additional room on most streets. Singe duplex units start around $250,000, while ranch-style homes sell in $300,000s. For a larger split-level, Colonial Revival or raised ranch-style build, buyers are looking at prices up to $450,000. Townhouses and condos are also on the market, selling for anywhere between $200,000 and $600,000 based on location and date of construction. The median home price is about $360,000, which is much lower than Ballantyne’s median of about $500,000.
