First-time homebuyer friendly homes

Experienced Charlotte area broker Bobby McDonald with EXP Realty LLC Ballantyne says buyers “can get a nice home in Starmount at a first-time homebuyer’s budget.” The neighborhood “has done really well appreciation-wise,” and “older homes are being flipped and going up in value”. Within Starmount’s rolling hillsides are refurbished brick ranches and New Traditional style town houses. A little fresh paint and creative floor plan updates reshape these sturdy midcentury homes to accommodate a more modern lifestyle. Starmount homes in any style typically cost homebuyers between $400,000 and $630,000. Unique to this community is its spacious lots, an enviable attribute that homes in other close-in Charlotte neighborhoods lack.

Creekside jogs and poolside summers

Little Sugar Creek hugs Starmount in the south and accompanies a particularly scenic arm of its namesake greenway. Residents hike or bike the gentle route and pull over at Park Road Park off Archdale Drive to rest under the picnic shelter with views of the large duck pond. Accompanying kids can release their remaining energy at the park’s spacious playground, and groups can play games on any of the various sports fields. Explorers looking for a longer trip along this waterside footpath continue south to Huntingtowne Farms Park. Less than 1/2 a mile away is Starclaire Recreation Club, a local favorite during the summer months. Membership is required to access the club’s pools, and members can participate in the club’s swim team and swim clinics or sign younger swimmers up for lessons. The club also offers children’s half- and full-day camps all summer long.
