Beatties Ford Road corridor community north of Charlotte
Welcome to the rolling hillsides on Sunset Road. Buyers will notice a healthy mixture of midcentury and contemporary architecture decorating this Charlotte suburb with pockets of rural farmland. "There are a lot of old and incoming modern homes here," says Jim Hall, Charlotte local and broker with Talley Properties. Uniform housing subdivisions cluster off the main drag, brushing against sparsely planned 1960s-era homes. "It's becoming more and more of a melting pot," Hall adds. Sunset Road is a Beatties Ford Road corridor community, a collection of historically Black neighborhoods centered along Beatties Ford Road, or "the Ford" to locals. In recent years, the city has also invested in this high-growth area with infrastructure updates to help residents better access jobs, transit and the sizable parks throughout the neighborhood.
There is still some countryside to be found in the Charlotte suburb known as Sunset Road.
From cozy abodes to spacious family dwellings, Sunset Road has it all.

Local businesses and groceries are along the south of Sunset Road
The southern corner of Sunset Road hosts most of the neighborhood's eateries and businesses. There's a Food Lion and an Aldi accessible by bus for grocery runs, and community staple Goodfellas Barbershop has been offering fresh cuts to Sunset Road's residents for years. Bubba's Barbecue is a popular stop for takeout or dining in; this establishment has been smoking St. Louis ribs and frying hushpuppies with the same recipes since 1963, with a front entrance adorned with comical signs like "Do not read under penalty of law." Having a good laugh with a good meal is part of the experience at Bubba's. Residents can take Beatties Ford Road south, about 7 miles to Charlotte's Center City, for further retail and nightlife options.
The barbers at Trimmers West on Sunset Rd is a great spot for a fresh cut.
Sunset Rd residents have a couple grocery stores to choose from, Aldi being one of them.

Long Creek Greenway is a pedestrian artery through Sunset Road
Hornet's Nest Park is a popular game spot; residents can toss a frisbee at Charlotte's Web disc golf course or hike along the winding trails. McIntire Creek carves through the wooded landscapes, leading to the lake at the park's center. Reconnect with nature at Opossum Walk Nature Preserve, where the Long Creek Greenway has undergone expansion in recent years; this walking trail will stretch more than 4 miles through Sunset Road, creating great opportunities for nature walks and birdwatching. Latta Nature Preserve is the largest in Mecklenburg County, just a couple miles north, protecting over 1,460 acres of natural communities. The park cloaks a lush peninsula with miles of waterside trails and scenic stop-offs. Sunset Road residents can spend balmy summer weekends on Latta Preserve's lake, cooling off with watersports and exploring native wildlife. Charlotte is known for its wealth of golfing destinations, and Sunset Road locals are a mile away from the scenic greens reminiscent of the area's farmland roots. Tee off on the fairways at Sunset Hills Golf Course. This public facility is a scenic spot for a fun round at low prices.
Disc Golf is a popular activity at Hornets Nest Park, just 10 minutes outside of Charlotte.
