Luxury and seclusion in South Charlotte

Wessex Square combines a sense of seclusion and luxury with proximity to downtown Charlotte. While the neighborhood is 11 miles away from the vibrant city centers, it is surrounded by five different country clubs, granting residents ample access to 18-hole courses, community clubhouses, and swimming pools. The variety of recreation opportunities is matched by the varied and distinct housing styles found along heavily forested streets. Charlotte is among the fastest-growing cities in the U.S., and Wessex Square has grown with it. “As a South Charlotte resident, I have had the pleasure of watching this popular area expand,” says Realtor Lindsay Patton at the Redbud Group.

Tudor Revivals and modern farmhouses

One drive down Wessex Square’s forested, sidewalk-lined streets, and it’s easy to see why the neighborhood has become so desirable to prospective homebuyers. Large, brick Tudor-Revivals and Colonial revivals sit under the shade of towering oak trees, often backing up to flowing creeks. For multifamily options, luxury townhouses can be found near the more commercial areas of the neighborhood. Contemporary vinyl houses begin pricing at $500,000, while modern farmhouses can top $1 million. Wessex Square has numerous gated communities, including Carson's Pond and the Mayfair.

Recreation at Cedarwood Country Club

“This area is known for its wealth of parks, golf courses, and trails,” says Patton. Wessex Square residents are surrounded by five country clubs in the area and have the convenience of having one in their own backyard. Golfers flock to the Cedarwood Country Club to enjoy the 18-hole course and scenic views of the lush Carolina forests. The Club offers an array of membership levels to incorporate all neighborhood residents and includes other facilities ranging from swimming pools to a clubhouse. For more outdoor recreation, William R. Davie Park sits south of Wessex Square and contains multiple sports fields and hiking trails. Sports enthusiasts will feel right at home on the park's baseball diamonds and basketball courts.

We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process. Charlotte is a great city- I believe that there is a large gap between the conservative and liberal citizens and that these gaps create political tension in the city. If we could create a more moderate local government, many issues between these gaps of citizens could be resolved.
