West side Charlotte suburb with city access
A quiet, primarily residential community on Charlotte's quickly developing west side, Westover Hills is wedged between Interstate 77 and Wilkinson Boulevard, its location providing access to the city's business district while the neighborhood maintains a relaxed suburban atmosphere. Southend, Charlotte's vibrant, artsy food and beverage hive, is a little over a mile east of Westover Hills — a draw for those who want to be close to its activity. "The popularity of Southend has transformed surrounding communities," says Mark Weinberg, a Realtor with Carolina Sky and a regular local seller. While Westover Hills features mostly smaller single-family homes, a few apartment complexes and businesses can be found on the neighborhood’s outskirts.

Colorful bungalows and ranch-style homes
Quiet sidewalk-lined streets branch off the busy West Boulevard in the south. The neighborhood features colorful ranch-style homes and bungalows dating from the 1930s to the 1970s, with spacious grassy yards under old oaks and maples. There are also a handful of newer two-story homes. With an average of 1,228 square feet, houses tend to be smaller and slightly more spaced out than in nearby neighborhoods. "Inventory is extremely low — when listings come up, they go fast," Weinberg says. Updated properties tend to find new owners quicker than those that need renovations. Three- to four-bedroom single-family homes range from $227,000 to $600,000.
Smaller homes offer lower price points to join the Westover Hills neighborhood community.

Coworking spaces and seafood eateries
The western side of Westover Hills has a few commercial properties, including the Launch Factory Coworking Space, which offers shared offices for local professionals. Some homes are close enough to walk to Nick's Gyros and Seafood, Family Dollar and City West Commons, which hosts multiple ghost kitchens that exclusively operate for takeout dining apps. "The area is also close to a growing selection of breweries," Weinberg says. Legion Brewing is a popular pub and eatery a mile up the road, and Walmart Supercenter is around the corner. “When I first moved here, Uptown shut down by 8 o’clock,” says Kirstan Hamilton, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker who has lived in Charlotte for over 30 years. “But now, we have a Nieman Marcus at SouthPark Mall and five-star dining.”
Family Dollar and other well known retailers are available for residents of Westover Hills.

Commuters can travel 3 miles into Charlotte's center city for work, roughly 10 minutes by car. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is 5 miles west.

Golfing, greenways and soccer games at Clanton Park
"Charlotte does a good job of putting parks everywhere and not just in certain neighborhoods,” Hamilton says. The Dr. Charles L. Sifford Gold Course is one of the only public facilities in the area and offers a scenic spot for a nine-hole game. The Irwin Creek Greenway is a three-and-a-half-mile out-and-back trail popular for walks and bike rides. The gentle route runs past parks and playgrounds. On the other side of Interstate 77, Wilmore Neighborhood Park is a small green space just big enough for a playground, swing set and picnic bench.
