Lake Redwine is a secluded community a few miles from city life with private amenities

In Lake Redwine, people escape the noise of everything except the wildlife inhabiting its namesake body of water. The neighborhood is curled into the Coweta County countryside and the nearest large community, the city of Newnan, is around 10 miles south. Locals have to head there for shopping and dining. “It’s in the country, but it’s not so far out that the ice cream has melted when you get home from the grocery store,” says Jessica Mottola, a Realtor with Lantern Real Estate Group. With the amenities and serenity residents get in exchange, Mottola says, they don’t mind the drive.

Traditional and Craftsman-style homes with waterfront views in an active neighborhood

The community’s traditional and Craftsman-style homes often have four to five bedrooms and lots of a half-acre or more. Homes near the waterfront often list from $760,000 to $1.8 million, while houses farther back often go from $500,000 to $930,000. HOA fees are $1,200 per year. The area’s residences and streets follow the curvature of the 330-acre Lake Redwine. Sidewalks let locals get exercise or walk to the area’s parks. Mottola says she sees at least five people jogging every time she visits the neighborhood. Front yards often have small bushes, while larger trees fill in the gaps between houses. “You drive in the front entrance under those hardwoods, with the lake and the gazebo right there,” Mottola says. “It’s a beautiful welcome home.” The neighborhood has a CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, well below the national average of 4.

Hit the lake for fishing, swimming and boating while taking in its wildlife

The waters of Lake Redwine offer bass fishing, swimming and boating opportunities, as long as those boats do not have gas motors. Mottola says the area gets visited by ducks and swans, plus migrating birds during the winter months. The community has two swimming pools, one of which is a quiet pool. “It’s a place where your book isn’t going to be splashed,” Mottola says. It also contains a playground, tennis and pickleball courts and other green spaces, plus a clubhouse for events. Nearby Madras Park has a gym and walking trails. Coweta Club at Arbor Springs has public tee times and an 18-hole golf course designed for all skill levels. In Newnan, the Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park has indoor trampolines and ziplines in a space that can host birthday parties.

Coweta County Schools get high marks from Niche

Students are served by Coweta County Schools. They can attend Brooks Elementary School, which has an A Niche grade. The school uses a systemic problem-solving process called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, or PBIS, to create safe learning environments for all students. Madras Middle School earns an A-minus. Newnan High School holds a B-plus score.

Holiday parties and food trucks on Fridays

Lake Redwine loves to celebrate holidays, Mottola says. Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny will visit its clubhouse, and on the Fourth of July, there is a children’s bike parade and a boat procession. Food trucks will visit the community on Fridays throughout the spring and summer, and fishing tournaments are held.

Around 30 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International

U.S. Route 29 runs south of the community. It is around 30 miles to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and 40 miles to Downtown Atlanta. The area can feel impacts from tornadoes and hurricanes, though the effects are typically mild.

Nearby Newnan has local restaurants and Ashley Park shopping center

Residents often travel to Newnan for shopping and dining. In the city, The Oink Joint Barbecue grew out of owner Matt Crawford’s experience in cooking competitions. Redneck Gourmet is a Southern eatery with a mural of Alan Jackson, a country music legend born in Newnan, on the side of its brick facade. The Alamo serves New York-style pizza in a converted movie theater. It hosts live music and other events throughout the week. Downtown is filled with retail boutiques, but the city also has Ashley Park, a shopping center home to name-brand stores like Target, Dillard’s and Best Buy. A Kroger is nearby.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students.
