The sights and sounds of Marimont are entirely its own
Residents in the lush east Chattanooga neighborhood of Marimont enjoy sights and sounds all their own. From airplanes climbing into the sky from nearby Chattanooga Airport to the scent of freshly mown grass at Brown Acres Golf Course and Camp Jordan Park, along with views of the Appalachian Mountains, Marimont offers a mix of suburban vibes and city accessibility.
Marimont's convenience to downtown Chattanooga and its location close to schools, parks and shopping is hard to match in the region, and Interstate 75, which runs alongside the neighborhood, is a big reason why.
Midcentury modern homes with a handful of new construction
A drive through the neighborhood winds along rolling green hills and subdivisions of midcentury modern houses, including ranch-style homes, Colonial Revivals and split-levels. Townhouses and condominiums are a bit newer, built between 2000 and 2020. Large lots and tidy landscaping are the norm.
Marimont properties typically sell faster than the national average and range from about $135,000 to $680,000. Inside that range, townhouses have recently sold from about $280,000 to $300,000 and ranch-style homes have sold from about $385,000 to $515,000. A handful of New Traditional homes have sold over the past 12 months from about $550,000 to $700,000.
Frequent fliers love living just two miles from Chattanooga Metro Airport
Marimont residents are well-located for travel, both by land and air. It’s just a two-mile drive to Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport, which offers daily non-stop flights to Chicago, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Dallas, Washington, D.C. and Charlotte. The neighborhood is encircled by Interstate 75 on three sides and by Highway 64/Route 11 on its northwest edge, making the 12-mile commute west to Downtown Chattanooga quick and easy. And once on I-75, points north and south are just hours away.
Highly rated public and private schools surround Marimont
The neighborhood is served by the Hamilton County School District, which has an overall B grade from Niche. While there are no public schools inside Marimont, students can attend East Brainerd Elementary, which receives a B-plus grade from Niche for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Ooltewah Middle and Ooltewah High both have received B-minus grades. Ooltewah High offers a specialized course in logistics and supply-chain management as part of the school’s Future Ready Institute.
Private schools are also available.
“So homebuyers really enjoy their options when considering schools for their children.” said Realtor/Broker Wendy Dixon with Keller Williams Realty,
Among them, Boyd Buchannan Christian and Chattanooga Christian offer pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, while Skyuka Hall is the closest private school to Marimont.
Bargain hunters and burrito lovers find plenty to enjoy in Marimont
When it’s time to shop for essentials, residents can head north on I-75 to shop for electronics, home goods and clothing at Bargain Hunt. a retail discount chain throughout the South. Those considering home improvements or redecorating will not want to miss Southeastern Salvage Home Emporium. Sportsman's Warehouse stocks fishing, hunting and camping supplies. Nearby Hamilton Place Shopping Mall is home to big-box retailers, including Walmart and Lowe’s, popular chain restaurants, professional services and a Regal movie theater.
Nutrition World is a locally owned health food store known for its variety. Dining at Molcajete Mexican Restaurant serves everything from fresh and light to smokey and spicy alongside a colorful decor.
Multi-acre sports complexes and golf courses welcome residents
Tiny Benham Williams Park, just west of Marimont, was founded in 1958 and still is a family destination for its simple playground, covered picnic pavilion and shaded green space. Brown Acres Golf Course sits at the south edge of Marimont, and its newly constructed driving range and clubhouse have recently opened. About five miles from Marimont, the Camp Jordan Sports Complex is an attraction unto itself.
“Soccer and baseball are big deals in this area, so Camp Jordan is like a second home for area athletes,'' Dixon said. "The complex has tons of space so they’ll also host antique car shows and all sorts of events throughout the year.”
Beyond competitive sports, the 275-acre Camp Jordan Park is a popular location for residents to enjoy recreational disc golf, kayaking, fishing and hiking. It also hosts Little League and soccer games across more than 15 sports fields.
Community theaters, farmers' markets and waterfalls welcome the curious
The Seed Theater on Vance Road offers live performances and workshops. In Chattanooga, residents can shop from over 50 vendors at the Chattanooga Market or cruise along Chickamauga Lake. Lookout Mountain is one of the most popular nearby destinations for Marimont families throughout the year. Located about 15 miles west, it features Ruby Falls, the country’s tallest and deepest underground waterfall.
