Chelmsford is about 27 miles north of Boston, and people can take U.S. Route 3 to get to the city. The medical center Atrius Health Chelmsford is located right in Golden Triangle, and Lowell General Hospital is about 6 miles north and across the Merrimack River in the neighboring city Lowell. There is also a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority commuter rail station in Lowell, which can also take passengers directly to Boston’s North Station. Those who want to take public transit to access the Greater Lowell area can look for the bus routes serviced by the Lowell Regional Transit Authority, and the Boston Logan International Airport is approximately 32 miles away.

Community events in Chelmsford
The town hosts many community events throughout the calendar year, including a fall festival, a watermelon festival and the Holiday Gift Stroll of Center Village. The annual Independence Day Parade & Country Fair is one of the biggest celebrations in town, and the parade is predated by a 2 Mile Road Race. The Chelmsford Community of the Arts also has many workshops and events for town residents, including karaoke and open mic nights, the annual Chelmsford Film Festival and the 10-minute Play Festival. “The Chelmsford Community of the Arts is a place to experience the joy and fun in all forms of art,” says Lauren Cochran, who is the center’s executive director. “We have a gallery that displays artwork by local artists, a cabaret room and a community band. We are also starting the Chelmsford Children’s Chorus, and we want to offer as many programs as we can to Chelmsford and to the surrounding towns as well.”
