Westlands is a Chelmsford neighborhood that sits adjacent to Lowell and is at the fork of River Meadow Brook and Golden Cove. A quiet, suburban community featuring narrow streets, New England homes and shopping centers, Westlands has a cozy and inviting atmosphere. “You get that neighborhood feel here,” explains local Realtor Ali Ludwig of RE/MAX Triumph Realty. People greet and chat with their neighbors on the streets or across the front lawn, and children get together for games and trips to the parks. The community is also zoned for the A-rated Chelmsford Public Schools, which appeals to families with school-aged children. Situated between the intersection of Interstate 495 and U.S. Route 3, the area is also in proximity to the New Hampshire border and Boston.
Peaceful retreats in a New England neighborhood
Comprised primarily of single-family homes along gridded but hilly residential blocks, most houses in Westlands were built throughout the 20th century and include raised ranches, Cape Cods and Garrison-styles. Single-family homes usually list between $500,000 and under $1 million, with newly constructed properties taking up the higher end of the price range. Lots tend to be around a quarter-acre to 1 acre in size, and yards are usually well-kept. Several condos and townhouses can be spotted, and are around $200,000 and $450,000, respectively. “The north part of Chelmsford has older homes,” says Angela Caputo Griswold, a local resident and Realtor at ERA Key Realty Services with 6 years of experience. “Homes here cost less than neighboring Westford, so the property value is good, and you get more space for the money.”
