Mt. Airy Forest is 1,459 acres of leafy wilderness, making it Cincinnati’s largest park. It’s perfect for a meditative solo hike or a casual recreational day with friends. Hikers are welcome to bring their pup along the miles of trails as they journey under the waving branches of oaks and maples. Tucked away in the forest is Everybody’s Treehouse. The mythical forest home can rile up a universe of imagination for visitors of any age. “The treehouse is handicap accessible by ramp, which is a unique, special thing," Stoughton says. For another scenic sight, visitors can walk the flowered paths at the arboretum and gardens, which are rentable for weddings and special events. There's also a disc golf course to fill visitors' competitive fix. Across the neighborhood sits Fox Nature Preserve, which is 77 acres. A boardwalk loop takes one through the undisturbed landscape of southwest Ohio. It’s a great spot to bring binoculars or a sketchbook and watch for herons, bald eagles and shorebirds flying above the spring clusters of mayapple and jack-in-the-pulpit flowers.
