Ashland Hills offers a quiet suburban community near Clarksville's center

Tucked between two major roads in Clarksville, Ashland Hills is a quiet suburban neighborhood that feels miles away from the city. “That’s a great area. It’s convenient to the part of Madison Street that’s more commercial. They have a little park in there. It’s just a cute area,” says Jodi Griffey, a Realtor at BLK Dog Realty with 25 years of experience. The neighborhood streets cross over gently rolling hills with towering oak trees on either side. Spacious lots offer a sense of privacy while being close enough to have a neighborly feeling. With Madison Street to the north and Ashland City Road to the south, the commercial centers of Clarksville are never far away from the tranquil setting of Ashland Hills.

Variety of home styles with spacious lots

Homes in Ashland Hills were built in the 1950s and '60s. “Those are older ranches, but they’re varied. You’ll have a small ranch that’s a three-bedroom, two-bathroom with 1,300 square feet, but then you might have a long one. You won’t see a lot of two-story homes over there,” Griffey says. While the ranch-style homes make up most of the inventory, there are a few other styles, including Victorian and some 21st-century New Traditional homes. They usually have large front and backyards, and many have sheds, workshops or detached garages on the property. Houses in Ashland Hills typically cost between $257,000 and $365,000. Some low-lying parts of the community are prone to flooding.

Outdoor recreation is easy to find in Ashland Hills

Ashland Hills offers easy access to recreation, with Coy Lacy Park in the center of the community. This small green space has a backstop and open field that can be used for baseball or softball. It also has an ADA-accessible playground, picnic tables and a short walking trail. Rotary Park is an expansive natural area just over 2 miles from the neighborhood. The site has over 110 acres to explore, with 6 miles of hiking and biking trails. Visitors can also play a round of disc golf on the 18-hole course, spend some time on the playground or learn about the local ecosystem at the Wade Bourne Nature Center. Beachaven Pool on Gaylewood Drive is open seasonally from May through August.

Students can attend conveniently located Clarksville schools

Barksdale Elementary School is conveniently located north of the neighborhood and gets an A-minus from Niche. Richview Middle School and Clarksville High School each get a B-plus rating. The high school serves approximately 1,500 students and offers the Academy of Business and Marketing Management, a small learning community that prepares students for college and careers in business. It also has several clubs and activities, such as a cosmetology club, a JROTC chapter, and Model United Nations.

Nearby Madison Street offers plenty of shopping and dining

Madison Street is a commercial corridor north of Ashland Hills. The road has a broad mix of local and chain restaurants, plus big-box stores. The Mad Herbalist is a tea lounge housed in a historic cabin, serving sandwiches and salads. Dos Margaritas is a casual Mexican restaurant serving classic dishes like fajitas and tacos. Residents can shop at stores like Walmart, Marshalls, Lowe’s and Miss Lucille’s Marketplace, a locally owned antique store. Groceries are available at Publix, DG Market and Kroger.
