Urban amenities in a suburban atmosphere

Sitting just 15 miles out from Midtown Manhattan, Richfield offers its residents a blend of urban and suburban amenities – creating an atmosphere built on convenience, charm and community spirit. Like much of Clifton, the area is a popular choice among New York suburbs – with the area’s market reflecting how appealing the idea of NYC access without the hustle and bustle, not to mention the extra room to stretch out, really is. “Clifton really feels like it’s made up of a bunch of smaller communities,” says Frances Rosado, broker with Real Broker LLC and longtime resident of the area. “Even among the other Clifton neighborhoods, though, Richfield is very centrally located and very convenient to just about everything nearby.”

More house for a lower price than than city

In addition to its particularly central location, Richfield is also one of the more buyer-friendly neighborhoods in all of Clifton. “In comparison to places like Rosemawr or Montclair Heights, it’s cheaper,” says Rosado. Streets in Richfield feature sidewalks line with trees and classic styles of housing, with Cape Cod, ranch style, split-level and Colonial Revivals being the most common types of homes. Prices start at around $500,000 and reach $750,000 typically, and lots are generally large enough to accommodate small yards and garden areas. In contrast to the urban sprawl just miles from the neighborhood, residents can count on lush greenery just outside their door.

Community spirit is strong in Clifton, and the area’s multicultural makeup means that community celebrations are welcoming, festive events. “One of the best parts about Richfield is being located next to City Hall,” says Rosado. “Residents can watch the flag raisings in the morning, or just admire all the different country flags on display throughout the day.” The Boys and Girls Club of Clifton is also very active, hosting regular bingo nights and annual events like the Taste of Clifton: Food and Wine Festival.

Clifton High features a renowned marching band

Students begin at Clifton School No. 14, which earns a B from Niche. Afterward, students move on to B-minus rated Woodrow Wilson Middle and finish up at B-rated Clifton High. “Clifton is a very sports-oriented town,” says Rosado. “And the schools are no different – the lacrosse and football teams do very well, and the marching band is absolutely excellent.” Members of the Orthodox Jewish community have both the Bais Yaakov of Passaic High School for Girls and the Mesivta of Clifton as private high school options, as well.
