Panoramic views and nearby trails
Stratmoor Hills has over 500 homes located on rolling hills with panoramic views of Colorado's mountains and landscape. Logistical convenience is key in the neighborhood, with downtown Colorado Springs just a few miles north on Interstate 25, and the Broadmoor World Arena and outdoor trails even closer. "You walk out your door and most hiking trails are right there," Tiffany Hyden, a real estate professional with eXp Realty LLC, says. "You have access to everything." Views of The Horns and Cheyenne Mountain to the west have little interference from tall buildings or towering trees.

Multi-generational homes in southeast Colorado Springs

House prices range from around $320,000 for a ranch-style home with a garage and backyard to around $550,000 for one with a driveway and multiple-car garage. Two- and three-bedroom townhouses and condos, mainly found near Cheyenne Meadows Road, range from $278,000 to $330,000. Houses sell, on average, after 68 days on the market, compared to the national average of 42. “There are a lot of multi-generational homes," Kristien Anderson, the administrative assistant with Meadows Park Community Center, says. Open space and pickup games at local parks
Stratmoor Hills Park is blanketed by the mountains, surrounded by multi-level homes with only a few trees that may affect the view of the Colorado sky. The unmarked basketball court with double rims provides a stage for pickup games and practice. A concrete pathway connects the court with a green metal canopy covering the matching picnic tables. The concrete path on the other side of the court leads to a green and reddish-brown play area where local kids can climb and ride down one of the two slides. On the neighborhood's west end, Cheyenne Meadows Park faces Cheyenne Mountain, with wide green fields for sports practices and dogs to play. Hiking trails connect the neighborhood to the mountains and the outdoors.

Get drinks by the "Paws of Fame"
Stratmoor Hills residents find big-name retailers and grocery stores along major Colorado Springs roadways. King Soopers and Safeway grocery stores sit along South Nevada Avenue to the west, with Walmart, Target and the Cheyenne Mountain Shopping Center to the east near Interstate 25. Urban Animal Brewery serves local craft brews with tables made of barrels. The dog-friendly brewery features a "Paws of Fame" wall, showcasing several good boys and girls visiting the brewery. Sushi O Sushi offers sashimi, tempura and other inventive sushi favorites in a dimly lit eatery with outdoor seating options.
Close by the Broadmoor World Arena events center
The nearby Broadmoor World Arena always brings a crowd, hosting events like concerts and comedy shows, including an ice hall for hockey and figure skating. The ice hall is home to world-class figure skaters, including Team USA athletes and world and Olympic coaches. Aspiring ice skaters learn the fundamentals in the same ice hall, learning from some of the nation's best coaches.
Interstate 25 leads straight to downtown
Two of the more traveled roadways line Stratmoor Hills to the East and West, with Interstate 25 and South Nevada Avenue providing straight lines north into downtown Colorado Springs, about five miles away. A vehicle is essential, with the neighborhood only having a few bus stops nearby, as passengers can still expect a fair amount of walking between stops. The Colorado Springs Regional Airport is about eight miles east of the neighborhood.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
