Peaceful living within reach of other parts of Columbia metro
Southeast Columbia offers suburban living, bolstered by scenic rural landscapes, woodlands and a mix of ponds, lakes and streams. The Congaree River also snakes the lower end of this side of the Columbia area. Due to some of these water ways, many homeowners here can experience waterfront views from their own backyards. Southeast Columbia is about 10 miles away from the Columbia’s downtown, where entertainment and a number of institutions like the University of South Carolina exist. “I like the Southeast. It’s very close to downtown, and is kind of a mid-point between the northeast and Lexington for different shopping options and restaurants,” says Angelia Dodson, who lives in the Southeast area and who is a realtor with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Medley. Garners Ferry Road is a major roadway that cuts through Southeast Columbia and is lined with many big box stores like a Walmart Supercenter, Lowe’s Home Improvement and Food Lion to meet the various shopping needs of residents.
Peaceful corners near water and woodlands
A number of these homes sit along the waterfront, like in the area of Sunview Circle where ranch style homes and other kinds of builds like a stately brick colonial are within direct view of a lake. There are also some more planned communities featuring modern, closely placed multi-story homes with colonial and Craftsman features. Many homes around here typically begin around $250,000 and can go as far as around a $1 million. A one-and-a-half story brick home with some Craftsman features, brick stairways and sitting on just under a half-acre can go for approximately $1 million. A three-bedroom, brick ranch style house with a carport can for just under $264,000.
