Longstanding Columbus neighborhood with community pride and new investment
A transformation is happening in Columbus Tech-Beallwood, an established north Columbus community undergoing extensive rehabilitation. The neighborhood is beside Columbus Technical College, potentially making this a desirable location for staff and faculty. Many Columbus area residents use the college, including beginning college, returning, transfer, transient and dual enrollment students. Beallwood's growth potential draws the attention of investors and those seeking starter homes. “There’s a lot of interest and investment happening in this community,” says Realtor Verronica Smith with Lokation Real Estate. Smith has been selling homes for over a decade. “Columbus as a whole is on an upward trend, there are lots of people moving here and people are seeing the potential in these homes.” Still, longtime residents of Beallwood take great pride in the community, and the Beallwood Area Neighborhood Development Inc. has spent the last 20 years protecting residents, holding neighborhood cleanups and starting community programs for youth and adults. The effort put into Beallwood is apparent, and the investment by Beallwood's residents is an excellent example of the benefits of community action.
