A rural escape from the city buzz with several ways to connect with nature
Galloway is a township that sits within Franklin County, less than 12 miles east of Columbus. Though close to the bustling city, crop fields that span for miles and outdoor parks focusing on wildlife conservation and education create a rural feel within the community. There are not many options regarding shopping and dining within the neighborhood, however thanks to its proximity to surrounding areas, there is plenty to do within reach.
Galloway welcomes you to it's community.

Galloway's residential pockets
Homes in Galloway can be seen sitting atop spacious property, typically one acre or more, making large lawns and ample space for landscaping a common occurrence. Dotted throughout the northeast side of the neighborhood are small communities of homes, which sit closer together on uniformed lots alongside sidewalks and streetlights. Most homes were built in the mid-to-late 20th century, with the occasional new construction, thanks to the presence of land lots available for purchase. The tri-level, ranch and modern Craftsman-style homes sell at a range from $193,000 for a three-bedroom home to $450,000 for larger, recently built, five-bedroom homes.

On-site bison at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park
Roughly half of Galloway is occupied by Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park, home to 7,000 acres of forests, established wetlands and recreation opportunities. A day outdoors can be spent walking its unpaved trails and canoeing along Big Darby Creek, which runs through the park's center. The conservation of wildlife living in the park has become a priority for the park system and the surrounding community. Bison have been reintroduced to the area with the goal of restoring what was once the Darby Plains. Visitors can get an up-close look at the bison and learn about the importance of conservation. “We also have three sled hills,” explains Hall. “A bunny hill, and a large hill, where community members come to sled on snow days.” Hiking can also be done less than a mile south of the park, along Darby Creek Drive, where a handful of trailheads can be found.

Farmers Markets and Friday night karaoke
Being surrounded by quiet rural land means residents will need to travel outside the neighborhood for daily amenities. That said, the local Kroger can be found at the northeast tip of the neighborhood off West Broad Street, making grabbing groceries convenient. Located across the street is the Prairie Township Community Center, which hosts a farmers market during the summer months and carries produce grown by local farmers. Retail shopping can be done at Tanglewood Plaza, a 3.3-mile drive north of the neighborhood via Hilliard Rome Road. The shopping center is home to a Walmart Supercenter, Target, Kohl’s and more. Dining options can be found within the community at The Galloway Tavern, where many locals gather for pizza, drinks and Friday night karaoke. Not far is Tres Potrillos Mexican Restaurant, where guests can sip on one of its popular margaritas while sharing a meal with friends on the outdoor patio.
