Quiet streets, Grove City address and Columbus taxes
Living in Holt-Alkire can feel somewhat closed off from the metropolitan area. Still, city convenience is always close, with an interstate at arm's length and Demorest Road as a major north-south thoroughfare. People retreat to quiet streets after a long day of work, and high schoolers can walk home after school in time to welcome younger siblings. Missy Overla, real estate agent with Keller Williams Consultants Realty and a Holt-Alkire resident, shares one of the neighborhood's advantages. "The biggest thing is living near Grove City while still paying Columbus taxes," she says. "Even though most people have Grove City addresses, they're still technically in Columbus."
Holt Park is a planned community in Holt-Alkire managed by homeowners association.

Jolly-Pirate Donuts near Holt-Alkire is a great place for breakfast.
Sugary smiles at Jolly Pirate Donuts
For quick essentials, Georgesville Square is 1-1/2 miles away, featuring a Kroger, Lowe's and chain restaurants. However, if residents want a nice meal or entertainment, they head straight to Grove City proper 3 miles southeast. Sleepy eyes awaken at the aroma of Transcend Coffee + Roastery's brews, and lunchtime bellies are satisfied by protein-packed plates from Plank's on Broadway. When a sweet tooth needs to be indulged, Jolly Pirate Donuts is open all day (almost) every day. Thomas Hamrick, Realtor with Keller Williams Consultants Realty and former Grove City local, says, "That's a fan favorite of Grove City people. People love their Jolly Pirate. If you like donuts, that's the place." Grove City also has plenty of artsy shops, like Sommer House Gallery. Inside are book signings by local authors and creations by up-and-coming artists. A few doors down is Little Theatre Off Broadway. "It's a really tiny theater, like less than 100 people," Hamrick says. "It's been there forever. Ever since I was a kid, so at least 20 years." The theater usually schedules two musicals, two comedies and two dramas every season.
Planned divisions beside expansive older homes
Holt-Alkire holds various communities within itself, each with distinct architectural styles. There are New Traditional builds with Craftsman-style elements, modest ranches and Colonial-inspired two-stories. Newer planned communities like the Holt Park subdivision come with amenities maintained by a homeowners association. Regardless of whether homes are from the 1950s or built within the past decade, Holt-Alkire listings have a lower price point because of the city tax advantage. Most housing is in the $280,000 to $380,000 range, but larger listings can go for upwards of $430,000. These higher prices account for increased square footage and space between neighbors. Despite each community's differences, it's common to see kids biking on the streets and people strolling down the sidewalks, taking in the fresh air.

Locals are car-dependent, and there is no public transportation within walking distance. Directly west is Bolton Field, a small corporate and recreational airport.
