Riverside community with mixed-use feel
Take in the serene flow of the Olentangy River running alongside this neighborhood, popular with Ohio State students and professionals alike. Olentangy Commons exudes a mixed-use feel, with parks, retail, dining and medical centers within walking distance of townhouse and condo communities. One of the neighborhood’s focal points is the Anheuser-Busch Sports Park, which hosts baseball and basketball tournaments and is home to the annual Nike Boys Basketball summer camp. “A couple of schools use the rugby field over by the eight baseball diamonds. There’s usually something going on every night there,” says Shawn Hageman, resident of Olentangy Commons and Realtor with RE/MAX Capital. “I also love the convenience of the Olentangy Freeway, and the shops are all right around the corner; all the bars and businesses are nearby along Bethel Road.”

Condos with ample amenities
Condos and townhouses with brick and Tudor-style exteriors are the primary options in Olentangy Commons. The two- to three-bedroom multi-family homes with private back patios are priced between $200,000 and $242,000. Hageman says the area's affordability is the main attraction. “The homes sell quickly because they’re so reasonably priced for the location.” Homeowners association fees range from $342 to $368 a month. They may include amenities like outdoor tennis courts, a community pool, a renovated fitness center, and fenced-in areas for dogs to roam. Those fees also cover things like water, trash and lawn care. Tree-lined sidewalks are just steps away from the front door of the condos, making it easy for locals to navigate the area by foot.

Tree-lined streets lead to shopping and dining center
Bethel and West Henderson roads serve as lifelines for retail and dining. Olentangy Plaza sits within the neighborhood, so locals don’t have to go very far to browse the aisles at Marshalls or Micro Center, a computer and technology store. TVs line the walls at Gallo’s Tap Room, where locals get together for wings and microbrews while they catch a game. Tea lovers have several options, including The Brewed Leaf and Tea Zone Bakery & Café. The latter has a seating area that includes the Japanese tradition of people taking off their shoes and sitting on an elevated platform while sipping tea or coffee. There’s also a range of Asian cuisine nearby. Jiu Thai Asian Café, Coco Hot Pot, and Buckeye Pho sit within the shopping center. Starbucks, Five Guys and Chipotle provide fast food options. For groceries, locals can make the 2.5-mile drive west along West Henderson Road to Kroger.

Expansive sports park with access to riverside trails
Along its namesake waterway, the Olentangy Trail is a paved walkway and bikeway traversing Worthington to Columbus. “There’s access to the trail now on Bethel Road,” Hageman says. “It’s happened within the past three of four years. Otherwise, you had to go south and access it via Henderson Road.” The trail winds through the Anheuser-Busch Sports Park just off Olentangy River Road. Along with its extensive options for athletics, the park features a playground for kids to explore. Within 2.5 miles of the neighborhood is the Columbus Park of Roses, one of the largest public rose gardens in the United States, with more than 12,000 sweet-smelling flowers on display.
