Suburban living in northwestern Columbus

Tuttle West offers a quiet, suburban community with residential subdivisions bordering an active commercial corridor along Interstate 270. “Tuttle West is really a unique place. There are all kinds of activities to do, and with I-270 right there, it’s got easy access to the rest of Columbus,” says Mark Hutchison, a Realtor with Red 1 Realty with over 15 years of experience in the industry. The interstate separates the neighborhood from The Mall at Tuttle Crossing, a popular shopping destination with a mix of national retailers and restaurants. While Tuttle West is tucked into the northwestern corner of Columbus, proximity to major thoroughfares means that residents are just minutes from commercial developments and are about a 15-mile drive from Downtown Columbus.

New Traditional homes and stand-alone condos

Tuttle West contains several subdivisions with a mix of single-family homes and condos. In the eastern half of the neighborhood, the Hayden Farms and Hayden Crossing subdivisions feature New Traditional homes with attached garages, fenced-in backyards and open floorplans. Most properties sit side-by-side on modest lots, and wide sidewalks line the streets. “The average home is about four bedrooms with two-and-a-half bathrooms,” says Karen Disbrow, a Realtor with Howard Hanna Real Estate Services who has sold several homes in the neighborhood. “It’s a standard floor plan where you walk in, and there’s a dining room on one side and living room on the other. You walk back, and there’s the kitchen and family room.” Single-family homes typically sell for anywhere from $330,000 to $490,000. Homebuyers will also find several condo communities in the neighborhood, with prices ranging from $250,000 for a two-bedroom condo to $530,000 for brand-new construction. There are also several houses of worship in Tuttle West, including St. John Lutheran Church and the Noor Islamic Cultural Center.

Access to The Outerbelt and Downtown Columbus

Interstate 270 runs along the eastern edge of Tuttle West, and the thoroughfare is locally known as The Outerbelt since it forms a contiguous loop around Columbus. “That makes commuting or getting anywhere around Columbus pretty easy,” Disbrow says. Downtown Columbus is about a 16-mile drive away via I-270, while John Glenn Columbus International Airport is about 20 miles away. The Central Ohio Transit Authority provides bus service to the community, connecting residents to local destinations such as The Mall at Tuttle Crossing.

Local restaurants and shops at The Mall at Tuttle Crossing

Along Hayden Run Boulevard, residents can pick up groceries at the neighborhood’s Giant Eagle Supermarket. A bit further east is The Goat Dublin, known for its elevated pub grub and outdoor patio with games like bocce and foosball. The restaurant also hosts weekly trivia and live music. “We have a lot of taverns where small bands go and perform,” Hutchison says. Over on Tuttle Crossing Boulevard, Luna’s Pizza Kitchen serves fresh pies topped with everything from pepperoni to pickles. Big-box shops can be found in the eastern half of the neighborhood, including Walmart and Best Buy. Less than 2 miles away is The Mall at Tuttle Crossing, which features over 90 shops and restaurants and is anchored by department stores like Macy's.

Playground and athletic facilities at Ted Kaltenbach Park

Small green spaces are scattered throughout Tuttle West. In the northwestern corner of the neighborhood is Ted Kaltenbach Park, which has a playground, a ballfield and several basketball and sand volleyball courts. The park also has a paved walking path, and its Kaltenbach Community Center can be rented for private parties or community events. A bit further south is Hayden’s Crossing Park, which has a playground and a shaded picnic area. Over in The Mall at Tuttle Crossing, Scene75 features over 200 arcade games and 12 indoor attractions, including a karaoke booth and a 35-foot-tall drop tower.

Events and programs at Homestead Metro Park

Residents are about 3 miles from the expansive Homestead Metro Park, a 43-acre green space with a fishing pond and a train station replica with a bright blue caboose. The park has a packed schedule of events, including a monthly Toddler Tuesday program centered around environmental education. Seasonal festivities include the Homestead Hoopla, which celebrates the end of summer with guided hikes, family-friendly competitions and ice cream making.

Residents are less than 10 miles west of The Ohio State University, where the Ohio State Buckeyes compete in Division I athletics.

OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital is about 4 miles north. It is currently undergoing a $200 million expansion project and plans to upgrade to a Level III trauma center, which will be the only one in the northwest region of central Ohio.
