An accessible Commerce City neighborhood near commercial hubs and recreation
Rose Hill is to the east of Commerce City, close to the rolling farmland of Northern Colorado. The neighborhood is also just 9 miles northeast of Downtown Denver, with proximity to various parks and wildlife reserves, as well as major thoroughfares for access to popular commercial hubs and major employers like Sturgeon Electric Company, Shamrock Foods and UPS.
A 20th-century housing scene and lower home prices
Bungalows, bi-levels and ranch-style homes line the streets of Rose Hill, and most were built between the 1950s and 1990s. Sidewalks connect the area’s streets and homes sit close together on small lots with fenced-in back yards and paved driveways. The area has lower home prices compared to surrounding Denver-area communities, with houses ranging from $340,000 to $560,000.
Sports facilities and expansive natural areas near Rose Hill
Monaco Park sits in the southwestern corner of Rose Hill and has open field space, sand volleyball courts, a basketball court and a playground. Pioneer Park has four baseball diamonds, a skate park and a batting cage. Across Quebec Parkway are the rolling hills, wetlands and prairies of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. Spanning across 15,000 acres, the refuge has 20 miles of hiking and biking trails that wind between scenic lakes, native wildlife habitats and open fields. The area is home to over 300 animal species, including bison, coyotes and prairie dogs and is a popular spot for bird watching and fishing. Home to the Colorado Rapids Major League Soccer (MLS) team, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park lies just east of the neighborhood and hosts various events and concerts as well.
Mexican cuisine and nearby grocers
Driving east on 60th Avenue can take residents to the shops and restaurants of the Parkway Market Center. Mama’s Cafe serves a variety of Mexican cuisine and brunch fare, from egg skillets to tostadas. Flor De Michoacan offers hand scooped ice cream, banana splits and fresh fruit juice. There are a few nearby Latin American markets along 64th Avenue, including Carniceria La Pradera and Mi Pueblo Market. For a larger selection, Walmart and King Soopers are also close by.
Career-based coursework at Adams City High
Rose Hill Elementary School and Kearney Middle School serve the area’s students and both earn D-plus grades from Niche. Adams City High School receives a C-minus and offers a variety of career and technical education courses, including manufacturing, health sciences and construction technology. The high school also offers the Academies at Adams City High School program, where students can take focused coursework in a career industry of interest and earn hands on experience in fields like healthcare, hospitality and information technology.
Community resources at Anythink
North of Rose Hill, the Anythink Commerce City Branch Library is a local gathering place with study spaces, events and technology resources. “We’re a newer library committed to making community members feel welcome in our space,” says Ricardo Cardenas, Branch Manager of Anything Commerce City. “We host events ranging from book clubs and children’s story times to holiday and Hispanic heritage celebrations. We also host live music events in our backyard, where musicians perform underneath our century-old cottonwood tree.”
Easy interstate access and Regional Transportation District
Monaco Street and 60th Avenue are both lined by bus stops, with local routes operated by the Regional Transportation District. Interstate 25 is a short drive west and spans north to Fort Collins and south to Colorado Springs, while Interstate 70 can take drivers west to the hiking trails and skiing hubs of the Rocky Mountains Front Range.
