The rural community of Concord is sprawled out over rolling fields below the Appalachian foothills. Development began after 1970, around the same time the Oak Grove Mine and the Concord Preparation Plant were constructed. Tornado outbreaks in the 2010s severely damaged the community, but it has since developed a robust community association that pledges to improve it. Residents live in modest homes along sparse country roads, and drive a few miles into Hueytown for shopping and parks.
