Well-kept properties atop manicured lawns
In the Shadow Wood neighborhood of Coral Springs, residents might see children playing, lawns being manicured, and stately homes that have been around since the 1980s. “This is a family environment,” says Luz Arevalo, a Realtor with United Realty Group Inc. who's been selling real estate in Broward County for more than 25 years. “The single-family homes in Shadow Wood are kept up well, and the majority have no HOA. The city is strict about maintaining your home, and the neighborhood shows it.”
Modern Ranch housing along the Stranahan River
Most of the homes in Shadow Wood are attractive ranch-style houses with two-car garages, private pools and entertainment areas for backyard barbecues. They sit on lots as large as a half acre and can range in size from three bedrooms with 1,600 square feet to five or six bedrooms with 3,000 square feet. They’re priced accordingly, too, between $550,000 and $875,000. In addition, the neighborhood features pockets of three-bedroom town houses, villas and condominiums, which list for between $285,000 and $340,000. These homes are part of homeowners’ associations that provide amenities such as community pools and clubhouses. The Stranahan River cuts through the neighborhood in canal-like fashion and provides a border for many properties.

The Three Mountains Natural Area and the Oriole Golf Club
Three Mountains Natural Area is a 21-acre green space along the Shanahan River where residents can walk, fish or hike its three “mountains” for scenic views of the neighborhood. These are actually hills left over after canals were dredged in the area. While most of the cityscape is flat, the 40- to 50-foot elevation from the hills is just high enough to provide a panoramic view. The park now features ficus and oak trees as well as a playground where children can slide, swing and climb. Another outdoor favorite to the northeast of the neighborhood is Oriole Golf Club. This semi-private course opened in 1971 and offers a par 72 track. The course also has a restaurant and lounge. Shadow Wood is about 3 miles from Cypress Park, one of the largest parks in the city, featuring multiple sports fields, a water park and basketball, tennis and pickleball courts.
