A younger population than average
Year after year, people choose the Wood Lake neighborhood of Coral Springs because they value the range of homes and appreciate what the city has done to make families their focus for over 60 years. "There are more opportunities for finding a house in a development or gated community in Coral Springs. They provide more safety and amenities than other cities of the area can," says Robert Zeoli, Realtor at EXP Realty LLC. With a younger population than most neighborhoods in the United States, it's no wonder Wood Lake is one of the communities that benefits from good schools and ample opportunities to play and explore.
Small parks and large sports complexes
While Coral Springs is known for its extensive park system and massive recreational facilities within a short drive, Wood Lake has a handful of small local parks ideal for children and families. Chevy Chase North Park and Windings Park border the yards of several homes. They serve as open green spaces for the community and are perfect for a friendly game of bocce or cornhole. The 4-acre Castlewood Park features a half-basketball court, playground, pavilion with picnic tables and charcoal grills for impromptu gatherings. Betti Stradling Park offers more extensive recreation with baseball diamonds, a skate park, basketball courts and sand volleyball courts, which are always busy after school and on the weekends.

Restaurants of every culture
Locals have options when it comes to shopping around Wood Lake. Costco and Publix are just across Wiles Road, and extensive shopping is west on University Drive. Pharmacies, home improvement stores and familiar retailers are in the many plazas of the main thoroughfare, as well as the 120-store shopping mall, Coral Square. Those who enjoy Mediterranean fare will want to check out Sahara Food Market and Bakery. This eatery has a full-service butcher and sells packaged items, such as spices, coffees and jarred olives, and prepared foods like grape leaves, chicken shawarma, tabouleh and falafel. On the way to the shopping centers of University Drive is a favorite local spot for celebrating special occasions: Tavolino Della Notte. This restaurant raises the bar on fine dining with its lemon drop martinis, an extensive wine list and dishes like squid ink ravioli and gulf shrimp in a cognac lobster cream sauce.

Mediterranean styles with generous yards
Half of the residents in the neighborhood rent, but those looking to purchase their home have a selection of sizes and styles to choose from. "You're not going to find beachfront mansions in the area, but the houses have good square footage and more yard," Zeoli notes. Divided into many planned neighborhoods, Wood Lake comprises winding roads that branch into cul-de-sacs, bordered by small lakes and channels. In the backyard of Mediterranean Revival ranches, in-ground pools are the norm, sometimes covered by screened-in lanais and accompanied by a scattering of trees. They fall between $500,000 and $700,000, with a median price of $575,000. The neighborhood is less expensive than others in Coral Springs, mainly due to the availability of townhouses and condos that occupy the space, ranging from the high $100,000s to $300,000. Included in the condo buildings of the area is Country Club Tower, the tallest building in the entire city, standing 12 stories high.
