Shopping, living and golfing in the Temescal Valley
Within the eastern Temescal Valley, Dos Lagos is an upscale community set in a pocket just east of Interstate 15, and best known for its adjoining shopping center, The Shops at Dos Lagos. "People often miss Dos Lagos when they're driving to and from Corona," says David Matta, real estate agent with Realty Masters & Associates. "It's set far enough away from the 15 that if you're driving real fast you won't even see it, but that adds a necessary layer of privacy. It's never too busy here." The modern community was developed in the early 2000s, but was originally built in 1860, beside the Temescal Tin Mines and along the country's first transcontinental stagecoach route. Between the mid-19th and early 20th centuries, ranchers and miners were drawn by the promise of mineral wealth and fertile land. The tin mines have long since closed, and today Dos Lagos, which means "Two Lakes" in Spanish, is centered around two serene manmade ponds. The community offers luxury homes from the early 2000s, as well as the 18-hole Dos Lagos Golf Course, both of which feature Temescal Valley views.

Mostly condos and townhomes
Dos Lagos' Mediterranean and Spanish-style houses, condos and townhouses were built between 2004 and 2010 and are set within subdivisions that overlook the golf course and Temescal Valley's rolling hills. Community amenities include a pool, clubhouse and playground, and homeowners association fees range from $160 to $350 a month, depending on the subdivision. The gated Temescal Heights community features 2,500- to 3,700-square-foot homes priced between $1 million and $1.5 million, while the non-gated Citrus Springs subdivision has three- and four-bedroom homes with two-car garages, priced between $600,000 and $650,000. Condos and townhomes are available for $650,000 to $700,000, offering three- and four-bedroom options. The gated, 55-plus Owen's Cove community has 1,500- to 1,700-square-foot townhomes. Creekside Mobile Estates' manufactured homes, built as recently as 2022, and range from $150,000 to $300,000, depending on age.
