Large lots with meticulous lawns

Strolling through Comstock Gardens, it’s easy to see where the latter part of the neighborhood name comes from. Lawns are meticulously kept, with thick green grass carpeting the vast front yards between the Colonial-style homes and the curbs. Shrubs planted in orderly rows provide privacy for many homes, while other residents rely on wooden fences. “It’s really that classic suburbia,” says Gina Howarth with RE/MAX 1st Choice, who has been working in the Cranston area for 20 years. “The lots are almost all half-acres, with bigger yards, and bigger, newer homes.”

Planned developments with colonial and ranch-style

Houses in Comstock Gardens feature colonial architecture and ranch-style homes, and prices range from $340,000 for a two-bedroom condominium to more than $1 million for a four-bedroom home in the high-end Alpine Estates subdivision. The area is home to a number of planned developments, with one single entry point from the main road and streets that twist into cul-de-sacs – the kind of neighborhood where children can ride their bikes without worrying about excessive traffic. What the neighborhood lacks in pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, it makes up for with wide, well-maintained roads.
