Buyers prepare for landing in this northwest Dallas airport community
As travelers prepare for take-off at Dallas Love Field, locals settle in for the night in the surrounding homes. In this northwest Dallas neighborhood, houses sit within a mile of the airport, so residents see and hear the plane action daily. "Love Field is basically in my backyard," says Mical Hagos, an associate broker at Keller Williams Realty and a neighborhood resident. "I've lived here for over five years and forget about the noise. You get used to it." Love Field locals appreciate the community's proximity to Bachman Lake Park, part of Dallas' urban revitalization efforts and a popular spot for exercising and plane-spotting. "The city is investing in the lake and its park, and the Dallas Love Field Good Neighbor Program is helping to engage community members," Hagos says. The city invested millions into Bachman Lake, which will bring new life to the park, the airport and the airport's surrounding communities. Love Field is near the Medical District, which includes UT Southwestern Medical Center, a 230-acre medical complex with a hospital, medical school and research center. It also benefits from a central location, close to Dallas North Tollway and Interstate 35.

A mix of prewar bungalows and modern estates
Housing styles vary depending on which side of the airport buyers are looking. Prewar ranch-style homes and bungalows line the streets between Harry Hines Boulevard and Denton Drive. Here, houses measure a modest 1,000 to 1,500 square feet and typically cost between $250,000 and $350,000. Buyers have renovated a few older homes, hiking up prices to over $350,000. Newer, larger homes are scattered between Lemmon Avenue and Inwood Road, on the northeast side of the neighborhood. Many are contemporary in style, with impressive architecture and sleek glass garage doors, and typically run between $1 million and $1.5 million.

Bachman Lake Park features ample waterfront amenities
Bachman Lake Park surrounds its namesake 205-acre lake with a wide, 3.5-mile loop around the water for runners, walkers and cyclists. Picnic tables, benches and grassy areas offer great views of Love Field Airport’s runway. The Bachman Recreation Center features a pool, gym, large meeting rooms and an outdoor playground for the kids. On the lake, scullers race by; the Dallas Rowing Club has a boathouse and offers clinics and workshops. The city spent millions in recent years on improvements to the park and lake, including the development of a 46,000-square-foot skate park. Another neighborhood green space, Grauwyler Park, has served the community for over a century. The park features a pool, a hit during the summer, alongside a playground and multi-use field. The Grauwyler Recreation Center has a fitness center and more meeting rooms.
Bachman Lake Park has miles of trails for walking, running or any two wheels you need to get by.

Mornings include fresh juice from The Fresh Bar and blueberry muffins at Empire Baking Company. Evenings might mean house-made gnocchi or capellini at Adelmo's Ristorante, followed by a movie at Landmark's Inwood Theater, which opened in 1947 and was restored in 2005 with a chic lobby bar.
