Bathed in green during the St. Patrick’s Day Block Party
One of the most popular events in the area is the Lower Greenville St. Patrick's Day Block Party. Visitors from all over North Texas travel to Lower Greenville to enjoy music and drinks following Upper Greenville's St. Patrick's Day Parade. It's a great combination of a neighborhood that's leafy but still walkable to all kinds of award-winning restaurants," McAulay says. "It's nice because you can be out walking or jogging and say hi to neighbors sitting on their porch." Many of these houses were built in the early and mid-1900's, constructed with multicolored stone or brick and accented with intricate woodwork and ornate facades. Expansive lots with big, leafy trees cushion Tudor, Farmhouse and Craftsman homes, some with driveways and two-car garages. Modern townhomes have been steadily developing along with new construction and typically begin in the mid $500,000s and top out at around $800,000. Students may be part of the Dallas Independent School District and are within walking distance of Geneva Heights Elementary, J. L. Long Middle School and Woodrow Wilson High School. The 8-acre Tietze Park has been a part of the community for nearly a century and the community raised funds in 2024 to plant 23 new trees for more shade. "It is our main park; we have tennis courts, a swimming pool and we are putting in a new volleyball court," McAulay says. Glencoe Park near U.S. Route 75 has plenty of grassy space for bring pets to burn off some energy, picnics and playdates on the playground. Many locals are members of the Lakewood Country Club on Gaston Avenue, 4 miles from a trailhead surrounding White Rock Lake.
