Reunion District is wonderfully walkable

With several popular restaurants, bars and coffee shops, the Reunion District certainly lives up to its name. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Dallas, this walkable neighborhood is ideal for meeting up with friends, grabbing a happy hour drink with coworkers, or mingling with neighbors at a local park. “I think the area is great. It’s very people-friendly, says Cami Bernstein, a Realtor with Real Estate Man DFW, who has 14 years of experience. “There are a lot of dog parks and a lot of restaurants and bars. It’s a great place to live.” In addition, the Reunion District hosts some of Dallas’ top tourist attractions, so a guest bedroom may come in handy when living in this lively and historic neighborhood.

Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse and Rj Mexican Cuisine are local favorites

The Reunion District is home to several popular and high-end restaurants. Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse on Ross Avenue offers a classic fine dining experience and has been voted the best steakhouse in DFW, according to the Dallas Morning News. The dining room has leather chairs and booths, exposed brick and Western décor. The restaurant is known for its steaks, but diners rave about the wild game trio, which changes daily, and the elk tenderloin. Head to Rj Mexican Cuisine for something a little more casual. Locals can sip on margaritas on the outdoor patio or in the sleek, modern interior. The North Market Street restaurant serves Tex-Mex classics alongside steak and seafood options. To stock up on groceries, residents can shop at the nearby Tom Thumb on North Field Street or Berkley’s Market on Main Street. The Dallas Farmer’s Market is just a mile walk east of the neighborhood. It’s open on Saturdays and Sundays and offers fresh local produce, meat, cheese, eggs, and other foods.

Reunion District’s curb appeal

Homes in the Reunion District include high-rise condos and apartment buildings in the bustling downtown. Condos in former industrial buildings that have been turned into lofts are plentiful. Many of these units feature exposed brick and wooden beams on the interior. Buildings often have amenities such as a swimming pool, fitness center and 24-hour security. Balconies are common in these homes, often overlooking the busy city streets below or a courtyard on the interior of the building. Bernstein says the condo way of life offers a sense of community for residents. “I like living in a high rise where you’ve got your gym, your pool and your people,” she says. “HOAs are pretty low, and prices are good right now.” One-bedroom condos range from $250,000 to $330,000 in the neighborhood. Two-bedroom units are usually around $350,000. A penthouse will be more expensive, generally around $700,000 to $800,000. Reunion District receives a “high crime” score of 10 out of 10, according to the CAP Index. In comparison, the average national crime score is four.
