Suburb along the Greenbelt
Tucked along the Greenbelt just 10 miles south of Denver, Bear Valley balances nature with city conveniences. “People move to this area because you get way more house for your dollar, and you’re split between where you work and where you like to play on the west side – the foothills, hikes and going to concerts at Red Rocks,” says Jason Sirois, Denver local and broker at Compass. Accessing these outdoor attractions and running errands is as simple as hopping on Wadsworth or Sheridan boulevards, which hug both sides of the neighborhood. These main routes extend adventures north into Denver whenever residents want a change in pace.
If you're looking for a peaceful place to live, you'll be sure to love Bear Valley.

1960s styles line Bear Valley subdivisions
Bear Valley residents return home from busy days working and hiking to sidewalk-lined subdivisions. Mature trees shade front lots and paved driveways that stretch from the streets to attached garages. “You have a mix of homes that were built in the 1960s all the way to homes that were scraped and rebuilt up from nothing, and in that, there’s multifamily, ranch and two-story that are the most common,” Sirois says. These homes list between $450,000 for a four-bedroom to $870,000 for a remodeled five-bedroom home. Bricked condo buildings spread across Bear Valley’s southern edge, U.S. Highway 285, ranging in price from $175,000 for a one-bedroom to $575,000 for a three-bedroom.

Recreation spread across the Greenbelt
Stretched across the neighborhood, Bear Valley Park spreads recreational opportunities from the soccer field to the playground. Pickleball players battle in the park’s four courts, while next door tennis players compete in matches across the six courts. “The Greenbelt is an awesome path and walking trail that goes through the area; it’s got tall trees, a creek running through it like an oasis inside this suburban area,” Sirois says. “People are always out riding bikes, walking their dogs or having a picnic.” Further down the trail to the west, fishing enthusiasts cast lines into the Bass Pond located in the middle of the Bear Creek Greenbelt.

Shops and a pub with pup decor
When running errands, shoppers search the shelves at King Soopers and restock on home improvement supplies at Home Depot over at Bear Valley Shopping Center. Pictures of pups decorate the pub walls at Doghouse Tavern, where locals grab bar food bites and catch up with friends over games of pool. On the other side of town, diners enjoy gyro sandwiches and kababs at Falafel House & Grill. Shopping and dining extend 5 miles north along Wadsworth Boulevard to Belmar, an open-air mall with brand-name retailers and restaurants.

Immediate access to Wadsworth and Sheridan boulevards
Bear Valley lies between Sheridan and Wadsworth boulevards, two north- and south-running veins connecting the Denver metro area. “You also have 285 to the south, and so one draw to this neighborhood is how quickly you can pop out to really amazing hikes in the mountains or go to Red Rocks shows in Morrison,” Sirois says. Since Wadsworth and Sheridan are significant arteries, they are joined by Regional Transportation District (RTD) bus stops to give travelers another means of getting around.
Locals are connected to highway 285, for easy commutes to downtown Denver.

Rocking out at Red Rocks
According to Sirois, Bear Valley residents – as with the rest of the southwestern Denver metro neighborhoods – are closer to the fun in the foothills, including Red Rocks concerts. “It has incredible shows throughout the year in this outdoor amphitheater carved into this beautiful red rock – it’s a music staple,” Sirois says. Residents can enjoy not only the entertainment to the west but also attractions scattered throughout Denver. “You’re still about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic, to get to a baseball game at Coors Field, a hockey game or a Nuggets game,” Sirois says.
