Congress Park

Bungalows, American Foursquares and more
Residential development here started around the 1890s with stately Queen Anne homes, but it shifted throughout the early 20th century to feature many of the styles the Denver area is known for today: Craftsman bungalows, known for their pitched roofs and overhanging eves and Foursquares, known for their boxy shapes and large windows. Both styles often feature stairs that bisect grassy lawns, leading to wide porches. Rowen says, "On a nice day, people grab a drink and sit to talk on their porches." Prices typically range from around $262,000 for a condo to upwards of $3.6 million for a larger property. It's rare to find a single-family home for under $700,000 here. Decorative trees line sidewalks that stretch along the narrow roads on which many people park. Over half of the residents here rent their property, and people here enjoy HOA benefits. Properties in Congress Park sell fast, after an average of just 26 days, which is well below the average.Congress Park, the Denver Zoo, City Park and more
The neighborhood gets its name from Congress Park, a green space with multi-use fields, tennis courts and an outdoor pool that has become a gathering place for the community. Less than a mile away, the 80-acre Chessman Park's grassy lawn and stately Greek-style marble Cheeseman Memorial have become popular among picnickers, and at the bordering Denver Botanic Gardens, locals walk through themed areas and check out the sunken amphitheater during the summer concert series. Just north of the neighborhood is City Park, which has everything from the award-winning Denver Zoo to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science to plenty of outdoor recreational spaces like the City Park Golf Course. Lisa Santos, a resident of Congress Park and a Realtor at Compass, says, "They'll have Jazz in the park, and you'll just see loads of people walking with picnic baskets and bottles of wine." From May to October, locals gather at the City Park Farmer's Market to peruse through fresh produce and grab a bite to eat.Eateries, stores and a nonprofit film center
Local establishments line 12th Avenue. Santos recommends Sienna Wine Bar & Small Plates, a cozy eatery that features happy hour specials and wines that rotate by the season. Patrons sip on their drinks and try small Mediterranean-inspired dishes on the patio, or head inside for an evening filled with mellow lighting and tasty flavors. Nearby, Sweet Cooie's Ice Cream and Confectionery transports patrons back in time with its baby blue interior and bubblegum pink stools. Those craving Detroit-style pizza take a seat at the popular Blue Pan Pizza. Coffee lovers can enjoy all that Under The Umbrella Cafe and Bakery has to offer. Local establishments also line East Colfax Avenue, which is the neighborhood's northern border. Bookworms explore two floors brimming with literary gems at Tattered Cover Book Store, and at Twist & Shout, shoppers peruse rows of records and CDs. On nights they’d like to eat in, locals can grab groceries at nearby stores like Trader Joe's. Those wanting to enjoy an obscure artistic theater head to the Sie FilmCenter, home of the Denver Film Society, a nonprofit organization that hosts the Denver Film.Denver Public Schools
Students can enroll in the Denver Public Schools, the largest district in Colorado. To start their educational journey, they can attend Teller Elementary, which received a B-plus rating on Niche. They can then continue to A-minus rated Morey Middle and A-rated East High. All three schools offer gifted programs, and the high school is ranked as No. 11 public high school in Colorado. East High offers AP and Concurrent Enrollment, allowing students to obtain college credit. The University of Colorado Denver is one of the school's partners. The district features SchoolChoice, so students here can choose to apply to any schools within the district that they may not initially be zoned for.Commutes and major employers
Some locals here drive, but they can also take advantage of RTD's public transportation options. Commuters enjoy the bike lanes on East Seventh Avenue Parkway and 12th Avenue, making commutes to downtown Denver, which is 3 miles away, safe. Locals here will be near National Jewish Health, which is in the northern corner of the neighborhood, and some of Denver County's major employers, like Arrow Electronics, which is just around 13 miles south via Interstate 25. Congress Park residents can also enjoy their proximity to the Denver International Airport (DEN), which is just about 22 miles east via Interstate 70.
