Two major commercial districts and fine dining
Shops and businesses line either side of East Hampden Avenue, and top-tier restaurants await hungry patrons. Residents say Zane’s Italian Bistro is the best place to get Italian food in Denver with dishes like shrimp scampi or breadsticks and marinara. The Yak & Yeti Restaurant and Event Center offers a buffet of Indian and Nepalese food and house-brewed beer. There are two large commercial districts on South Havana Street and South Parker Road in east Hampden. Residents can pick up groceries at Whole Foods Market on Hampden Avenue or Safeway on Yale Avenue.

Bible Park and Cherry Creek State Park
James A. Bible Park is one of this neighborhood’s best attributes, with wide-open spaces and seemingly never-ending paths for walking, jogging or biking. Bible Park also has hard courts, athletic fields and a large playground. Trails extend further south into Hutchinson Park, a wetland area with another playground for small children. Hampden borders the 27-hole Kennedy Golf Course and the private Cherry Creek Country Club. Visitors of the Holocaust memorial at Babi Yar Park can take a thoughtful stroll through the well-landscaped path that outlines the Star of David. The park also has engraved historical displays and other elements to observe throughout the walk.
From Hampden Heights Park, outdoor enthusiasts can take the trail through the city to reach Cherry Creek, a rushing waterway by a 40-mile trail that hikers can take all the way north through downtown Denver or southeast to the Cherry Creek State Park. Four miles away, the state park provides more trails and beaches by a large lake reservoir. “We have the mountains and great trails. I grew up going to the Cherry Creek Reservoir to boat and water ski with my family,” says Chris Kiker, a longtime local and a Real Estate Agent at Keller Williams Realty DTC in Centennial. “Even with my friends, we would go fish on the dock. I actually worked at the marina down there when I was in high school, and I took sailing lessons there in middle school. I spent a lot of time there growing up. There’s a lot to do in that area. We’re going there with our Cub Scout troop this spring.”
