Education is a top priority in Blackstone Park, with the neighborhood hosting a selection of schools, ensuring that students of all ages have access to quality education. Dr. James Vernor Elementary-Middle School is a public school that serves students from Pre-K through 8th grades and earns a Niche score of C-minus, with teachers and diversity earning the highest accolades. Vernor provides an educational foundation for students before they transition to Samuel C. Mumford High School. Mumford High also earns a Niche score of a C, with teachers, sports and clubs/activities receiving the highest applause. Notable alumni have walked the halls of Mumford High including gospel singers: The Winans, The Clark Sisters and Fred Hammond. Other iconic alumni include renowned film and television producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Saturday Night Live cast member Gilda Radner and former ESPN sportscaster Jemele Hill.

Most restaurants and eateries surround the community and are located in adjacent Greenwich. Along Seven Mile Road is where most food establishments can be found such as BBQ Central, your destination for smoked meats and soulful sides like baked beans and greens, while Motor City Soul Food offers similar cuisine but is counter-service only. National food chains such as Checkers are also along this road. For an at-home culinary experience, neighborhood grocers Kroger and ALDI provide produce and food necessities. The nearest retail hub is Hermanos Con Amor Boutique on Eight Mile Road, which has wellness shops, spa treatment centers and eateries like Subway. Major retailers like Nike and H&M, are all located in downtown Detroit.
