A neighborhood with a history, in the midst of rejuvenation
Less than 2 miles from Interstate 75 and Davison Expressway interchange sits Detroit’s small suburban community of Davison. Dedicated to the same revitalization that the rest of the region is working toward, Davison encourages residents through ongoing rejuvenation and has a bit of a haunted history that locals love to talk about. “Detroit is slowly rebuilding and repopulating to get back to the booming city we all remember it to be,” says Harrison R. Duke, a noted historian in the area who was born and raised in Detroit. He’s lived in the Grandmont neighborhood for the last 30 years. “You’ll see a lot of vacant lots and abandoned buildings, but community boards and associations have been collaborating with the city to revive these areas.” The neighborhood meshes industrial and residential, with the northern third of the neighborhood bringing manufacturing and industry jobs - and the noise and traffic that often accompanies it.
Homes in Detroit's Davison neighborhood are generally priced below $150,000.

Ranch-style and colonial homes for under $100,000
While some streets hold homes that need serious repair, others are starting to see the resurgence that the community is working toward. Bright and vibrant murals grace the sides of buildings while flourishing trees canopy the sidewalks of residential areas, giving the place a lush, green feel. Ranch-style homes sit next to multilevel colonials just as traditional-style homes can be across the street from brick bungalows. The houses have well-kept lawns and backyards with private driveways and detached garages for household vehicles. Home prices range from $20,000 to $120,000, depending on the work a home needs. The median home price is $81,000, down 1% from the previous year.

Recent improvements to Conant-Minnesota Park
“The city and its communities have been working together to rejuvenate and expand area parks to create more recreational options for residents,” says Duke. At Conant-Minnesota Park on Conant, these renovations include new basketball courts, rubber surfacing for playgrounds, sheltered picnic areas and repairs to asphalt and walking trails. Luce-St. Louis Playground also has upcoming remodeling for its walking trails, basketball courts and play areas. The park also offers space for soccer. Nearby, Jayne-Lasky Park covers 65 acres and offers several sports courts, playgrounds and a spray ground. The park is home to the city’s only public putt-putt golf location.
