Private and public schools
Most of Garrett’s schools are private and teach prekindergarten students all the way up to high school. Durham Academy on the eastern side prides itself on its philanthropy and encourages community participation among its students. In the northern section, Hope Creek Academy offers students small group and individualized instruction, so their education is tailored to their unique needs. Public school students are zoned for the Durham Public School District and can attend Forest View Elementary School, which gets a B-plus from Niche. Then, they can attend Sherwood Githens Middle School, which Niche gives a B, before attending J.D. Clement Early College High School, which Niche gives an A. Students of J.D. Clement not only graduate with a high school diploma, but also may have enough college credit to enter university as a junior.
