Bartonsville stays busy with all the activity in the shopping centers and along Interstate 80. North of this retail hot spot is The Woodlands, a quiet neighborhood filled with tall trees that surround Colonial Revival homes. “The Woodlands is close to everything,” says Renata Mavrogiorgos, a Realtor with Re/Max of the Poconos. “It’s five minutes from shopping, dining and I-80. The trees around each home make it feel very private.” When residents want to get out of their solitude, they can drive up to shop in Tannersville or take a quick trip to Bartonsville. The large homes, privacy and access to nearby shopping make The Woodlands an oasis in the East Stroudsburg area.

Shopping and dining in nearby Bartonsville
Stephanie Carson, a Bartonsville local and owner of Carsons Custom Creative Cakes, says the area has grown since she and her family moved into their home in 2002. “Bartonsville used to be just a truck stop, and it's grown so much since then,” Carson says. “The shopping is convenient. I can go to the grocery store and then go to another one less than 5 miles away if I need to.” Bartonsville is 2 miles south of the neighborhood and includes shopping centers like the Crossroads Mall of the Poconos and the Shops at Crossroads. Residents stop by Giant for groceries. Down the street, there’s a Target, BJ’s and Home Depot in the Pocono Commons shopping area. Colonial Revival homes shaded by trees from $400,000
Homes in The Woodlands don’t hit the market very often. When they do, they can cost from $400,000 to $600,000. Most homes were built in the late 1990s and early 2000s with Colonial Revival designs, wide front porches, attached garages and long driveways. Towering pine and maple trees surround each home, blocking the home’s view from the street. “The Woodlands is a nice community. The homes have acre lots and are built to be sturdy,” Mavrogiorgos says. “The neighborhood doesn’t have amenities, but everything is very well-maintained. There’s not a huge HOA fee. The homes are mainly Colonial Revivals with high ceilings and basements. Basements aren’t common in the Poconos because of the water table, but this area isn’t affected by that.”

The CAP Index gives the neighborhood a 3 out of 10 crime score, which is lower than the national average of 4.
