Homes are selling quickly
East Syracuse offers highly rated public schools, proximity to downtown and easy access to the local highways, but the main reason houses are selling so quickly here is because there aren’t that many for sale. “There’s super low inventory. If one comes open, it’s going to move fast,” says Glenn Riemenschneider, a Realtor with eXp Realty, a central New York resident representing the area since 2013. “We’re still in a sellers’ market here. Homes are selling for over asking price. People are getting multiple offers. Homes are going under contract within a week.”
Many homes date back to the early 1900s
In the Village of East Syracuse, there are a number of wooden clapboard historic foursquare homes built in the early 1900s. Outside the village, there is a wider mix of architecture, ranging from Colonial revival to bungalows to ranch-style, built from the 1960s to the present day. Lots are typically 1/8 acres, suitable for a sitting area or gazebo. Most homes do not have garages, and prices here range from $115,000 to $239,000. The neighborhood has both gridded and winding streets, all tree-lined, and no sidewalks.
