Located a mile south of the iconic 50th and France downtown area, is the community of Chowen Park and Creek Knoll, known for its walkability and urban nightlife scene. “It’s a very coveted area with a real hometown community-oriented feel right on the edge of the city,” says Bob Johndrow, Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty. Situated within northwest Edina, a first-ring suburb of Minneapolis, Chowen Park and Creek Knoll is desirable for it's distinguished school district, outdoor recreation options and small-town vibes. Mainstay eateries like the Edina Grill, and boutique shops, like Harriet and Alice, the local yarn/gift shop, add to this community's charm. Amenities like Lake Harriet, provide young families and nature enthusiasts with a peaceful year-round outdoor space. Popular events like the highly anticipated annual Edina Art Fair, occur every summer. Ranch styles and New Traditionals
The real estate market in Chowen Park and Creek Knoll is highly competitive, due in part to Edina's increasing popularity. Offering residents a variety of home options near its many shopping, dining and entertainment amenities, these properties move fast. A primarily residential area, many homes in Chowen Park and Creek Knoll date back to the mid-1950s and showcase examples of mid-century architecture at its best. Prospective buyers can choose from cozy cottages, Cape Cods or ranch-styles, all typical of the era. Or they can opt for a newly constructed (post-2000's) traditional, contemporary or prairie-inspired farmhouse design. With a median sales price of $570,000, single-family homes can range from the low $400,000s for a three-bedroom Cape Cod to upwards of $3 million for a brand new five-bedroom 3200-square-foot estate. “A lot of people tear down the old homes and build brand new, but what’s really nice about the neighborhood is that the builders and architects of the new construction really try to maintain the old cottage look,” says Johndrow, who has been selling in Edina for over 5 years. Whether old or new, residents will find unique architectural details here, ranging from sharply angled skillion roofs, to stone or brick chimneys, or multi-gabled entryways.
