Convenience and lower housing prices in Quail Run

Quail Run offers walkability to local restaurants, indoor play spaces and a large sports complex about 20 miles east of downtown El Paso. The neighborhood's single-family homes have lower price tags than other parts of the city, making this area more accessible for many buyers. "Quail Run is mostly starter homes," says Realtor Yvonne Russell with Realty ONE Group Mendez Burk. "When I sell homes there, it's usually the price point that draws buyers. Anything under $200,000 is an attraction in El Paso."

Single-family homes with Southwest charm

In Quail Run, about 75% of residents own their homes. The neighborhood features ranch-style and new traditional architecture with typical Southwest accents like short stone walls along property lines and palm trees in front yards. Prices range from $170,000 to $280,000, which is low for the El Paso market. Quail Run's market moves very quickly, with homes selling after an average of 13 days, much faster than the national average of 47.

Socorro Independent School District

Quail Run belongs to Socorro Independent School District, which gets a B-plus from Niche. The neighborhood's assigned schools – Helen Ball Elementary, William D. Slider Middle School and Montwood High School – all get Bs. Rams Early College at Montwood High School is a partnership with El Paso Community College that allows students to graduate high school with an associate degree.

El Paso County Sportspark

"Quail Run has the huge sportsplex for baseball," Russell says. "That was a big spend for the city. There are preschoolers up to 14-year-olds in the league there, so that's a big attraction. They host a lot of events for baseball." The 45-acre El Paso County Sportspark has 10 lighted fields, batting cages, concessions and a restaurant. The park offers baseball, softball and T-ball leagues for youth and adults.

Indoor entertainment options

With the hot El Paso summers, it's important for families to find indoor activities to keep the kids entertained. Oasis Lanes is a large bowling alley with an arcade in the southwest corner of the neighborhood. The destination is popular for birthday parties but also has weeknight specials and leagues for competitive players. Jungle Jacks is an indoor play zone for kids in the neighborhood, and Sky Zone Trampoline Park, half a mile west, provides another indoor entertainment option.

Shopping and dining at Zaraplex

Zaraplex is a shopping center in the neighborhood with retail shops like dd's DISCOUNTS, Savers, Household Furniture and Dollar Tree. Popeyes, Cicis Pizza and Bahama Buck's provide quick dining options, but there are several local sit-down restaurants as well. Yamaguchi Ramen Bar is a local Japanese restaurant, Cincinnati Bar & Grill is a casual dining spot with American fare, and Viet Restaurant's menu includes pho, boba and Thai tea. A Walmart Supercenter is less than half a mile north.

Walkability and Sun Metro

Sidewalks keep the area walkable and Sun Metro bus stops in the neighborhood provide transit routes around the city. The neighborhood is about a half mile from Interstate 10, which leads to downtown El Paso in about 20 minutes. University Medical Center East is a primary care provider 2 miles south, and The Hospitals of Providence East Campus is 3 miles north. El Paso International Airport is 11 miles away.
