Neighborhood parks, highly ranked schools and quick access to Randall Road
The builders of Providence kept those seeking thought-out residential aesthetics and the convenience of Elgin’s northwestern side in mind when developing the subdivision. Homes built at the turn of the 21st century line its walkable residential streets that enable residents to comfortably still to private parks and the Mid-County Trail. Retail store and restaurants on Randall Road and U.S. Route 20 are also nearby. The community scores a 1 for crime on the CAP Index crime score, compared to the national average of 4, and is districted to the highly rated Central Community Unit School District No. 301. “It’s a newer and safe subdivision and is a perfect place to raise a family,” says Rafael Villagomez, a local Realtor with Epic Real Estate Group LLC.
Providence's 21st century homes
Surrounded by colorful blossoms and fresh lawn mower lines, the stone-clad sign marking the neighborhood's entrance provides a glimpse into the community’s well-kept residential landscape. Young deciduous trees and black streetlamps line its quiet streets alongside sidewalks just wide enough to fit a stroller. Meanwhile, professional and detailed landscaping, alongside built-in basketball hoops on the sides of one-to-two-car driveways, point to a sense of long-term ownership. Homes built between 2005 and 2011 sit atop quarter-acre lots and showcase New Traditional and Colonial styles. While some properties feature stone or brick-clad exteriors, almost all include backyard patios for entertaining during the warmer seasons. Homes typically sell between $275,000 and $545,000 depending on size and condition. Pockets of Condos and townhomes presenting similar architectural styles are also available and range in price from $275,000 to $350,000.

Private parks and a neighboring cinema
Mid-County Trail runs through Providence, granting a car-free pathway for walking and biking. It also wraps around the pond at Boathouse Park, located in the heart of the community. Private to Providence residents and their guests, the park offers a playground and a small dock for fishing bluegill in the pond. Other community parks include Settlers Park and Heritage Park. Those making trips to the latter can enjoy snacks under its large pavilion or pick-up games atop its basketball and tennis courts. Elgin Country Club sits a half mile east, where members play through its hilly 18-hole course. Meanwhile, Marcus Elgin Cinema sits in a development off Randall Road directly east of the country club. A popular spot in the area, the cinema offers $5 movie showings every Tuesday.

Randall Road's shopping opportunities
Country Donuts sells sweet treats from a strip mall on U.S. Route 20 just beyond the neighborhood’s northwest corner. Maciano’s Pizza & Pastaria, which serves traditional Italian fare, shares the space alongside the family-owned Sammy’s Mexican Grill and Bar. The Mexican restaurant is a frequented spot for margaritas and stays busy on the weekend. “Being close to Randall Road is a big pull for this community,” Villagomez says. Big-box stores, including Target and Hobby Lobby, line the corridor. Residents can also pick up groceries from Aldi or Meijer while running errands along the stretch.

City-wide Elgin gatherings
“Elgin has a lot of stuff going on,” Villagomez says about city-wide events. “The Elgin Fringe Fest is a cool one, and it’s more artsy.” The annual one-day festival occurs in late November at several venues in downtown Elgin, about 5 miles away. Alongside seeing pieces from local visual artists, attendees can catch live music, comedy shows and theater performances. Downtown Elgin Market, held on Riverside Drive every Friday evening from June through October, is another popular event. Similarly, Nightmare on Chicago Street welcomes thousands yearly for a one-night Halloween celebration.
