Mixed-use development on the shores of San Francisco Bay
Pacific Park Plaza, the bayfront neighborhood of Emeryville, California, is located between Oakland and Berkeley. The western side of the neighborhood faces the San Francisco Bay, where catamarans, cruisers and yachts dot the waters. On the other side, the ridgelines of the East Bay Hills are visible. A single high-rise stands out, a relic of a 1980s era when redevelopment plans changed direction in response to competing visions. Today, the tower rises thirty stories above blocks of low-rise buildings, converted warehouses and modern mixed-use developments with a wide range of shopping, dining and entertainment options. Amy Rangchi, a senior mortgage advisor for CrossCountry Mortgage, has seen a lot of change in the fifteen years she has lived in the neighborhood. “It was very industrial when I first came here,” says Rangchi. “Now there are shops and restaurants and all kinds of things that make you actually want to live here.”

All of today’s favorites for shopping, dining and urban recreation
The Public Market has been around a long time but was revamped in recent years and now offers well over a dozen eateries and diverse events like trivia nights, drag queen bingo and live music. Bay Street Emeryville, in the southern part of the neighborhood, takes up three city blocks and offers restaurants, like Flores which serves traditional Mexican dishes, Fogo de Chão, a Brazilian restaurant specializing in carved meats and Uchiwa Ramen, serving the traditional Japanese comfort food. Popular shops include Levi’s, Apple, Sephora and Barnes & Noble. Friend groups and families congregate for entertainment and recreation, whether it be putt-putt, movies at the 16-screen AMC Theatre or an immersive Virtual Reality experience at the Sandbox. An IKEA anchors the neighborhood as well, and Trader Joe’s is a favorite for groceries.

Bridges, bikes, BART and major highways abound
The free Emery Go-Round shuttle takes commuters from the nearby BART station to various locations, and people can grab an electric bike or scooter in the shared mobility program. Downtown Oakland is 5 miles away on Interstate 580, and Berkeley is under 4 miles. Interstate 80 leads to San Francisco, just across the bridge. "It’s truly one of the most convenient locations to commute to San Francisco for work,” says Andrea Gordon, a top-producing Realtor for Compass in the Oakland and Berkeley areas. “There used to be a billboard for drivers coming from the city that said, ‘If you bought here, you’d be home by now.’” The Oakland Airport is about 14 miles on Interstate 880, and the San Franciso International Airport is 22 miles on I-80 and US Highway 101. The Highland Hospital in Oakland is under 6 miles.
Pacific Park Plaza is served by multiple AC Transit bus lines.
Pacific Park Plaza borders "The Maze," one of the busiest highway interchanges in the world.

Parks, paths and bayfront trails draw residents outdoors
A segment of the San Francisco Bay Trail runs along Pacific Park Plaza. Biking up toward Richmond affords glimpses of the town of Tiburon and Angel Island State Park. Closer to home, Christie Park has an ocean theme, including a climbable 50-foot whale designed by Monstrum Playgrounds. This park also has a dog park and walking paths, and it hosts free movie nights sponsored by the Public Market. Doyle Hollis Park in Emeryville North offers a tot lot, rope structures and tube slides for bigger kids, and a large green for kicking soccer balls.
Pacific Park Plaza has lots of bicycle friendly roads that are used every day by commuters.

Limited options for buying a home
Apartments, condos and townhouses are scattered amongst retail outlets, offices and a few industrial buildings. While most homes are rented, the condos that are for sale were built in the 1980s and run from around $350,000 for a small studio or one-bedroom unit to around $700,000 for a two-bedroom spread. A larger penthouse with panoramic views might cost close to a million dollars. A newer townhome built in the 2000s in one of the mixed-use developments with shops below might run around $650,000 and feature two bedrooms and modern features. Pacific Park Plaza has a CAP Index Crime Score of 6, which is higher than the national average of 4. Motor vehicle thefts have a CAP score of 8 and burglaries and larcenies have a score of 7.
