About Enoch, UT

About Enoch, UT

A city with a small-town feel in Cedar Valley

Enoch, the second largest city in Iron County, is located right in the Cedar Valley and has a population of 8,300 residents. The larger area itself is part of the Old Spanish Trail, which once served as an important route for transporting textiles from Santa Fe to Los Angeles for mules and horses. The Utah Southern Railroad became an important boon for transporting goods and expanding the town’s commercial prospects. For years, Enoch’s local economy continued to rely on industrial pursuits, such as sawmills, gristmills and brickmaking. Today, Enoch holds tight to its agricultural and industrial roots while maintaining a distinctly small-town charm. "People are drawn to Enoch for the open space, privacy and the quiet," says Natasha Isom, principal broker at Southern Utah Luxury Real Estate. Isom has been selling homes in Enoch for the past six years. "It's right by the surrounding mountains and all the fishing lakes, so you have a lot of recreational opportunities," Isom also speaks warmly of Enoch's close-knit nature. "It's a phenomenal community full of down-to-earth people with a lot of character."

Ranch-style and barn-style homes to fit the Enoch lifestyle

Craftsman-style split-level and barn-style homes are most common in Enoch. Some were constructed between the 1970s and 1990s, but there are also several brand-new builds. Many of the newer properties are located in Settlers Square, a popular subdivision community that features neutral-toned homes in neat rows on 0.3-acre lots. According to Isom, Enoch also has beautiful homes constructed by renowned local builders Hyve Homes, Rose Bradley and Alex Meisner. "The housing market has quite a bit of interest. People are seeking out Enoch because they're looking for that open space and affordability. You can get a half-acre to a one-acre lot at great prices," she says. Homes in Enoch sell for a median price of around 440,000, which is more than the national median.

Enoch's parks and Cedar City's larger rec spaces

Spanish Trails Park has a playground, while Iron Mountain Park has tennis courts. Enoch Dog Park includes an agility course and spaces for pups of all sizes. KJ's Ice Barn has ice skating and hockey. Just outside in nearby Cedar City, larger parks offer more space and more recreation opportunities. Three Peaks Recreation Area, 8 miles away, has 6,000 acres for mountain biking, disc golf, ATV rides and camping. Sugarloaf Mountain is just 19 miles away, with an easy terrain that opens itself to hikers of all levels.

Enoch's annual celebrations and festivals

Given its biblical name, it’s fitting that Enoch is home to several houses of worship, including multiple Jesus Christ Churches of Latter-day Saints. These also double as venues for community-driven events. Enoch celebrates plenty of annual occasions, like Arbor Day's volunteer-led effort for tree pruning and planting. Every July 4th, the city of Enoch has a lineup of events before the fireworks, including a car show, a 5k marathon and an arm-wrestling contest with cash prizes. Midvalley Farmers Market runs from June to November, while Festival City Farmers Market is from February to December. In June, there is the Utah Shakespeare Festival with performances running for several days. Plus, the beloved Livestock Festival takes place in October. "When you're talking about that area, you’re talking sheep county. Everyone in both Enoch and Cedar City comes out for the festival and the parade. You see locally raised sheep and they literally fill the streets. That’s Enoch in a nutshell," Isom says.

Shopping and dining in Enoch and Cedar City

Enoch has a few restaurants, specialty shops and grocery stores. But Cedar City, just about 4 miles away, has local and chain restaurants and major national retailers. These can be found at Cedar City Towne Center on Main Street.

The Iron County School District serves Enoch and is rated B-minus by Niche. It has nine elementary schools, two middle schools and five high schools. Enoch is also only 8 miles from South Utah University, a public 4-year college.

Using Interstate 15 and Cedar City Regional Airport

Interstate 15 runs along the eastern edge of the city, passes through Cedar City and extends along the western edge of the Wasatch mountains. In its entirety, it runs from California to the Canadian border in Sweetgrass, Montana. For nearby commercial flights, Cedar City Regional Airport is 8 miles away.

The Enoch City Police Department submitted data to the FBI stating that from 2022 to 2023, it experienced a 14% increase in violent crime and a 44% decrease in property crime. As of January 2025, the Enoch City Police Department is also working on a new building to increase productivity and provide a better space for officers to work more efficiently.
