Rural community in the foothills of Mount Rainier
About 40 miles southeast of Seattle, Boise–Osceola offers pastoral living with farmhouses and equestrian properties in the foothills of a coveted national park. "There are dairy farms, horses and all kinds of agriculture," says Melissa Hudson, Real Estate Broker with Keller Williams Mountains to Sound Realty. "It's definitely rural. People like it because it feels like you're in the country but still close to everything." Over 5,000 years ago, an active volcano erupted, causing a mudslide that created Boise–Osceola, a rural community at the base of Mount Rainier, one of the most alluring natural attractions in the Pacific Northwest.
Farmhouses and ranch-style homes on several acres
Farmland surrounds the streets in Boise–Osceola. With single-family homes built in the 1960s, the neighborhood introduces traditional farmhouse architecture and ranch-style homes that complement the rural landscape. Many properties have several acres of land and houses with rustic features like dormer windows and covered porches. With most properties over 2,000 square feet, listings offer spacious interiors, stables and distant views of Mount Rainier. Prices range from $300,000 to $1.6 million, depending on size, acreage and recent renovations. “With a little bit of land and a bigger house, your money goes a little farther here,” says Ben Eklund, Real Estate Broker with Skyline Properties, Inc.

Local green spaces and Mount Rainier National Park
Boise–Osceola has several local green spaces, like Boise Creek Park, which has a playground and baseball fields for Little League games. Farmers Park is another option with a heavily wooded, nine-hole disc golf course. However, the neighborhood's real draw is its abundant open space and hiking in areas like Pinnacle Peak Park, which provides panoramic views of Mount Rainier's glacier-covered peaks. The center of this coveted national park is about 35 miles south, although its equestrian trails and intensive hikes begin at the edge of town.

Removed from interstate traffic but accessible
This neighborhood does not have direct access to interstates; however, many roads lead to main routes west of Enumclaw. "It's not too far to commute, and many people work from home," Eklund says. Most residents have personal automobiles, although the King County Metro has a dial-a-ride service with bus stops along 436th Street and a park-and-ride area at Farmers Park. State Route 164 is the neighborhood's main thoroughfare, heading east into town and northwest to Seattle. For traveling, the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is about 30 miles northwest.
