A tight-knit community full of parks and restaurants
Even though it is part of Chicago, Evergreen Park feels like its own little town, with everything residents need within the community boundaries. “The heart of Evergreen Park is 95th Street, which has a chain of restaurants and anything you could want along it,” says real estate agent and Evergreen Park native Dave Manson with RE/MAX 10 Commercial. With park in its name, green spaces are sprinkled around the community, so people can get outside and enjoy the fresh air through the public amenities there. Throughout Evergreen Park, residents get to know their neighbors and care for each other as they put down roots here. “It’s a good community,” Manson says. “Everybody knows everybody and helps everybody.”

For something sweet, Oberweis Dairy brings an old-fashioned feel to ice cream with its traditional glassware. Georgians and Cape Cods around Evergreen Park
Evergreen Park features a mix of housing styles, with brick Georgians sitting alongside Cape Cods and bungalows. Trees shade front lawns and the sidewalks along both sides of the street. Front lawns are open, with landscaping limited to flowers and bushes up against the sides of homes adding character and color to properties. Many people will park along the streets, but the sidewalks are set a couple of feet from the road, so pedestrians won’t feel crowded while walking. For those who don’t like street parking, many houses feature detached garages tucked behind properties and accessed via gravel alleyways. Most homes here list between $225,000 and $375,000.

Summer concerts and Independence Day parades
From June through September, the Evergreen Park Recreation Department hosts Saturday Summer Concerts in Klein Park. City Lights Orchestra also comes out to the community, offering a spring concert in one of the parks. “We have the annual Fourth of July parade and fireworks show, which is very entertaining,” Manson says. “It goes right down 95th Street, and it’s good to get everybody together and watch all the cars and floats.” Manson also highlights that many people arrive early to secure the best spot along 95th.

Evergreen Park is popular with commuters
While some residents might be able to walk to parks from their homes, the buses along 95th, Pulaski Road and Kedzie Avenue also connect people to Evergreen Park’s green spaces and shopping centers. OSF HealthCare Little Company of Mary Medical Center is nestled along 95th, providing easy access to the health services offered there. I-94 is a little to the east, still convenient to commuters but far enough away that residents can’t hear the traffic. People can take the Interstate the 17 miles to downtown Chicago or hop on the Metrarail. The closest stop is 95th Street – Beverly Hills, just 2.3 miles from Evergreen Park and along the RI line, so it connects all the way to downtown. This type of connectivity and accessibility makes the community popular with commuters, according to Manson. The closest airport is Chicago Midway International Airport, just over 7.5 miles away.
