Suburban Neighborhood in New Jersey
Burlington County 08004, 08053
Evesham Township, a suburb of Philadelphia, offers a variety of housing styles and an abundance of outdoor spaces. Also referred to as Marlton, which is the seat of the township, the longstanding community also provides easy access to retail and the amenities of Philly.
Colonists founded the township in 1762, and it's long been a place for quiet suburban respite. You'll find a mix of suburban community developments and tucked-away farmhouses and estates, so there are various options depending on your preference and budget. There are townhouses and condos with attractive price points, Colonial revival homes and ranches. The community also has traditional houses and farmhouses offering more elbow room. Million-dollar estates on one to two acres provide upscale options for the township. While condos and townhouses offer little to no outdoor space, single-family homes have manicured lawns and spacious backyards for relaxation or entertainment. A townhouse or condo may cost you around $300,000, while one-to-three-bedroom homes will run for about $600,000, and an estate will go for about $1.2 million.
Students in the area attend schools in both Evesham Township School District and Lenape Regional High School District. Marlton Elementary School has an overall B rating on Niche and is known for offering a comprehensive visual and performing arts program, teaching students music, dance and visual art. Parents will also enjoy the school's before and after-school childcare program. Marlton Middle School has an overall B-plus on Niche, supporting students with its after-school math tutoring program. Cherokee High School has a high overall rating of A minus on Niche. The school offers a variety of activities that look great on college resumes, including the Knowledge Bowl, Graphic Design Club and the school newspaper.
The rural-suburban nature of the neighborhood means you're close to a variety of outdoor recreation. Memorial Park is a large community outdoor space with athletic fields, sports courts, a playground and an indoor recreation center. Across the township, Laurel Acres Park is a smaller green space where you can fish on the lake, walk along the trails, play pickleball or take your dog to the off-leash area. Chartwell Gardens is a public outdoor event space with a summer day camp for kids. The space has multiple pools for different age and skill levels, athletic courts, an obstacle course, a bounce house and an extensive events area. Residents can rent the site for celebrations like weddings, birthdays or family reunions. The area is also home to various country clubs and golf courses, like the 18-hole course at Indian Spring Country Club. For indoor recreation, you're about 13 miles from the Mt. Laurel YMCA. You can swim, exercise and play indoor sports in the gymnasium.
The township offers a ton of convenient access to Philadelphia and surrounding amenities. Philly's Center City is about 20 miles away, making the township a suitable area for commuters. You're also about 10 miles from the New Jersey Turnpike, which connects you north to New York City and south to Baltimore. You're about 30 miles from the nearest airport, Philadelphia International Airport and 4 miles from Virtua Marlton Hospital, the nearest medical center. While there isn't much available for public transportation, the township does provide free transport within Evesham for senior and disabled residents.
Most of the township's dining and retail is on and around Highway 73, about 4 miles from the township's center. Marlton Crossing has big box stores like TJ MAXX and Michael's. Across the road, you'll find more retailers like REI, Best Buy and Barnes and Noble. The area is also home to both an AMC indoor theater and an outdoor theater that shows screenings in the summer. The largest shopping center is The Promenade at Sagemore. There are chain retailers like Nike and Pottery Barn, casual restaurants like Sweetgreen and upscale options like Brio Italian Grille.
With its variety of homes, retail hub and easy access to Philadelphia, Evesham Township offers quiet and convenience.
